The Killer Bee's were before Marino.
You must admit, hell of a QB. Just think what he could have been with a running game and defense!

What's a good QB?
Tom Brady,Peyton Manning,Trent Green,Donavan McNabb,Matt Hastleback....if Vick is the one to compare to, the list is much longer.
Marino put up some big numbers but was hamstrung by his supporting cast as saugmon stated.

Anyone think that the Culpepper addition will change the outcome for the Dolphins?
I think the Culpepper deal was a steal! (2nd round draft pick)
A improvement over last years QB. Only question is will he be ready to play by opening day.

Dan Marino never won a Super Bowl, as you know.
Just because that didn't happen, doesn't mean he wasn't a great QB. He never had the supporting cast that Montana had. So that should be blamed on him and diminish what he was able to accomplish without support?

Out of all the QB's you named only one has a Super Bowl ring, also it took two of them (Peyton Manning & Matt Hastleback) until this year to make it to conference championship game. Vick has all ready been there. You sound as if your are jealous of the fame Vick has received. You are right he is not the most accurate QB and he probably never will be. All he does is win games at 70 percent clip. I thought that is what you measure a QB by. WINS. The falcons receiver are not decent they have been terrible. Hopefully they will be better this season. If Vick couldn't read a defense and find the open receiver Alge Crumpler would not be a Pro Bowl TE. Why throw the ball to a receiver who is going to drop it. I'm a Falcons season ticket holder for 20+years not a ESPN watcher of them. This opinion of Vick is getting tired and worn. All he does is WIN. This year was the first year he has not lead his team to the playoffs when he started a majority of the games. You need to get your facts straight.

Sorry if I struck a nerve, you can continue living in denial.
You can't actually in your wildest dreams, think that Vick belongs in the category of Manning,Brady,Green,McNabb,Hasselback etc..these are all QB's,not runners that operate under the false pretense of QB's!
I dont base my idea of a good QB as someone that has won superbowls,if you are talking about GREAT QB's then thats a different story.
You said yourself that all he had to do is not lose games....is that something you expect from a QB that you traded off several draft picks and a few warm bodies for?? If you really believe that Vick was a better pick then LT,then that tells me about all I have to know about your level of expertise.
What is Vick going to do after he gets injured on one of his highlight reel type runs and blows out a knee, and he has to rely on his arm??....uhh huh I thought so.
Vick relies on Crumpler because he is the saftey valve, or outlet receiver, the guy he dumps off to when he cant read the defense enough to find the open WR, which explains why Crumpler is such a threat. Is it that you have bad receivers now???...lets think about that one for a bit....I seem to recall you drafting a guy number one recently and what was the deal with Peerless Price...they cant all stink can they?
You found me out though,Im jealous LMAO ;)
There is no need to resort to personal attacks just because you dont agree with my opinion.
You live in the Atlanta area, and you watch the games live.Does that make you more knowledgeable about the ins and outs of the game?? I dont think so.I have been watching games for alot longer than 20 years.Ive seen some live, and Ive seen many on T.V. I also happened to have played in high school and college.
Sitting there next to your computer, you have no idea what this person, or that person, does, or does not know, and you shouldnt pretend that you do.
If your skin is too thin to take a little objective criticism,or even a difference of opinion you are posting in the wrong forum.

I am not attacking you as a person just your perception of Sick Vick.
No Vick does not go through his progressions as quick as some people think he should and yes he does sometimes miss wide open receivers. You tell me what NFL QB that doesn't. No my attending Falcons games live don't give me knowledge of the ins and outs of the game but my playing at a MAJOR DIVISION ONE football power does. Go UGA. If you really want to know the TRUTH I think Vick IS an AVERAGE QB but I'm just sick of this tired argument.

Yeah Jim he's right you need to lay off vick he's an amazing athlete, has more talent in his pinky than you do in your whole body.
Manning is a choke artist he will never win the big game.
Let's see vick took the falcons to the playoffs his rookie year. missed the second year to broken leg. third year they played great in the nfc championship game against the eagles. and last year they had tons of key injuries on defense. I look for them to be in the superbowl this year no doubts about it. The falcons wr's do stink. peerless price is extremly overrated. has good speed but his hands suck. Dunn and Crumpler seem to be the only good recievers. Finnernan is ok and white is showing progress. roddy not dez. Vick is only going to get better, but why pass for a short 5 yards when vick can cover that ground quicker than throwing the ball.

I'm from Philly so of course I'm an Eagle fan, but, not this year, and I know most people will disagree with me, but now that TO is gone so is the Eagles chances, I could'nt care less what his off the field antics were, I dont care who's Momma he called names or who he slapped, on the field he is the best bar none, big mouth or not he always gives his all, even after his sugery when the doctors told him they don't like the idea of him returning to play so soon, he played, he wants to win, I know he can be an a-hole many times but if an a-hole helps win the superbowl, go to it.
Now I hear he might be going to Dallas, I hate Dallas, but I will be watching them this year, and cant wait to say to many of my friends, I TOLD YOU SO.

Joe Montana!
@FredBun
T.O. pisses me off. I like the niners, and you should have seen him at the 2000 playoffs when he was still with the niners. He caught the game winning touchdown in the playoffs and cried like a little baby...not saying that he was one (now he is), that just shows how much heart he used to have for the game, but now he just wants money that he doesn't need and acts like a d***.

Quote: Yeah Jim he's right you need to lay off vick he's an amazing athlete
Hmmmmm something missing from that sentence..... Hmmmmm... oh yeah... nothing said about him being a quarterback, let alone a good one.I never disputed that he was a good athelete,he is a marvelous athelete, but no more than an average QB,100 mil plus for an average QB,if im a Falcon fan, im feeling totally ripped off.
Quote: No Vick does not go through his progressions as quick as some people think he should
He looks at his first receiver, and if he is covered he takes off,not much for a progression reader.Mike is always going to be an average QB until he learns to quit running at the slightest sign of trouble. But I have my doubts if even then, that he has the right stuff to be a good QB.They had to "dumb down" Mora's version of the west coast offense, and he still looks like he doesnt have a clue.
Quote: Manning is a choke artist he will never win the big game.
ummmm how many big ones has Vick won?
That maybe so about Manning not ever winning the big game, but at the end of the day he will go down in history(barring injury) as one of the best to ever play the game,a shoo in for the HOF can you say that about Vick?
Quote: The falcons wr's do stink. peerless price is extremly overrated.
The Falcons gave up a number 1 pick for Price, they also drafted Michael Jenkins and Roddy White in the first round, all of these guys suck?If that is the case Your front office must not know what the hell they are doing. After these blunders I would be keeping quiet about who's my favorite team.
Quote: Vick is only going to get better
And how long is this metamorphosis going to take? he has already been in the league 5 years.
Quote: and last year they had tons of key injuries on defense.
Doesnt everybody?? this is one of the weakest excuses Ive ever heard, and every team that didn't win uses this excuse.
Quote: I'm from Philly so of course I'm an Eagle fan, but, not this year, and I know most people will disagree with me, but now that TO is gone so is the Eagles chances, I could'nt care less what his off the field antics were, I dont care who's Momma he called names or who he slapped, on the field he is the best bar none, big mouth or not he always gives his all, even after his sugery when the doctors told him they don't like the idea of him returning to play so soon, he played, he wants to win, I know he can be an a-hole many times but if an a-hole helps win the superbowl, go to it.

This is a great example about what is wrong with the game, and the world in gereral..win at all cost!
The way this asshole treats the game, and the fans is sacrilege. After all his tantrums, and hissy fits, and crying....this chumpstain gets a raise??
T.O. destroyed the Eagles and he will do the same to the Cowboys. It couldn't happen to a better guy, I hate Jerry Jones about as much as I hate T.HOE
Like it or not, TO, you are a role model, and you are telling todays youth that it is ok to do whatever the hell you feel like, as long as you can ball. This kind of attitude is what may eventually turn me off the game that I dearly love.
I have to admit that I would be disturbingly pleased, if I heard this chump got hit by a bus.
Quote: No my attending Falcons games live don't give me knowledge of the ins and outs of the game but my playing at a MAJOR DIVISION ONE football power does. Go UGA.
I guess Im missing something here, since you played for a MAJOR college persay,do they play the game different?? Do you use more starting QB's?...nope, the game is played the same from Pop Warner, to high school, to college and beyond, the x's and o's are the same. The level of competition is vastly different, but the game is the same.
UGA huh...hey are you Herchel Walker? If that is the case, you sucked too, once you got to the pros LOL
When did this become a pissing contest anywho?? If it is a contest, I hold the record of 35 feet ;)

It seems you have a personel problem with Vick. Thats something you have to deal with. Yes the game is similar at every level in some ways(100 yard field, ten yard end zones, 6 points for touchdowns, but the x's & o's of pop warner, middle school or high school can't be compared to those of any level of college or the pro's. As you said the game IS THE SAME, but only in name. Playing and being coach at a level that's higher than what 99 percent of the young men playing football will ever reach can give you an insight to things that most fans or other players can attain. No I'm not the exceptional #34, but if I ever run across him I'll be sure to pass on your regards, and no I would win the pissing contest with the help of this syringe that is full of a undectable substance sticking out of my buttocks. It is tough having a personal problem with someone I dont know.
I do hope Vick does show that he is worth all the draft picks, and the hype,if only for the sake of you Falcon fans.
Its nice to have a good friendly debate without it turning into a flame war... thanks 20inchceo :)
No winners or losers here, just a well debated topic.
Have a good one

Don't get me wrong, Marino Was a great QB, but didn't get them to the Super Bowl for some reason. For this reason, I don't think that he is even close to the best.
I think that Vick is pretty good, scrambles well, throws far, etc., but he is not Super Bowl Material. People such as Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger, etc. are, and therefore, I wouldn't mention Vick at all in the best Quarterbacks list.
