jacoblee,

We're talking about using DVD Decrypter to rip a DVD9 and write to a DL disc. 1:1 copy, no compression involved. Rip in iso mode then write iso to DL disc. DVD Decrypter will work with dvdclone on most dvd's (almost all dvd's if any dvd is running in the background) if you rip in file mode.

Most (including myself) would consider Ritek R03's good budget media. I still prefer verbatim and TY and think most will agree.

I'm confused........ on the basic dvddecryptoyr screen, the bar at the top.. Catagory "mode" - you sat that file mode should be checked?

Then under "tools", the "settings" heading is what confuses me. All of those choices.......... then is it file mode? or iso read mode? Then after the files are ripped, if I open clonedvd2, select "write existing data", and then select iso/udf image file, does this mean that I am ready to burn with the next step?

Yes. If you want to compress the ripped folder with CloneDVD to a DVD5.

Click on mode not tools to choose between file, iso read, or iso write. If you want to rip a dvd to be compressed with CloneDVD (or other transcoding software), rip in file mode. If you want to make a 1:1 copy of a DVD9 to a DL disc, click mode and select iso read then after it is ripped, load a DL disc and click mode and select iso write. Locate the iso you just ripped and select it. You're making this way too dificult.

That is only used if there is no compression required and you only want to use dvdclones burn engine. If you want to compress (and/or edit) a folder ripped with DVD Decrypter to fit on a DVD5, then you need to click on copy dvd titles or clone dvd. You can locate the folder made with DVD Decrypter by clicking on the 2 arrows making a circle at the top right. Then just locate your folder and go.

Jacoblee, you should read thru the forum and learn just the way I did. I read for 3 months and llearn everything and am still learning. You are making everyone repeat things like rb/cce (i am still trying to learn how to use it tho i have the site) I just think you should take the trouble to read.... no offence meant

@ Mort81....

Yeah, I'm sure that I need to just play around with it more. Like I said the other day, believe me, I've made my share of coasters..... but I hate to waste the dl's at the current prices. Thanks to guys like you, I'm able to press on and learn a lot more about this "art". But.......... now I guess I'm gonna have to learn to read more?

@ Cynn......

Sorry to bore you with my "obvious" learning disorder..... I'm glad that you have found a method that works for you to pick all of this up at your own pace. It's your choice on how you go about it. I have been very appreciative to guys like Mort81 & arniebear for their patience and willingness to help guys like me. Only thru their experiences and their unselfish willingness to answer questions can their knowledge be appreciated by lots and lots of people such as us. The afterdawn forums (as well as a few others) provide me with a lot of help with several subject matters.... the text from these forums isn't absorbed via osmosis.....
If you are bored with questions and discussions here, just move on to another thread. That's what I would do. Likewise, no offense meant either.

Mort81 & Kivory666.....

I rec'd. my media today, everything looks good with it. According to the coding no's. that you posted the other day, markings appear to be as they should be. I had ordered some 8x+R, 8x-R, 16x+R & 16-R. They look like they are ready to "rock N' Roll". I can post the disc coding info if it would benefit anyone, let me know.

jacoblee,

Glad to hear the good news about your TY's. Take some time to absorb some of the info I/we have given you. Read and reread if necessary. Don't try to do too much too fast. I have years under my belt and I've even had to print off parts of threads before I could get a good grasp on something new to me. Learn things step by step and ask a question about one topic if necessary. Don't ask about everything all at once. You'll do fine. Now that you've got bitsetting figured out, I recommend dvd+r media. Definately booktype your dvd+r DL media dvd-rom. Good luck.

Fine business. Yeah, without a doubt, I will now use the bitsetting with my +R's. I kinda wish now that I didn't order the -R's, but I will use them up over time I'm sure. The 16x I got just to have them on hand. I have read in a couple of places that some of the users think that the 8x media is on the way out. Maybe a guy should stockpile some?

Think I'll put a couple of these new shiny little dudes to work now, am going to back up Munich and Flight 93.

One more thing, do you make use of any -R media in your arsenal?
