Antivirus - NOD32 + firewall + router
AntiSpyware - Ad-Aware SE Personal, AVG Anti-Spyware, Spybot Search n Destroy and windows defender
Others - ccleaner, HijackThis, Windows Registry Repair

my very last questions are .....
-is the NOD32's firewall automatically on because i cant find it??plus the windows firewall should be turned off right??
-how to use Hijack this and all the registry related apps??so far i've been using it like scan and then fixed without caring nothing.is this gonna mess my system badly??

thnxsx....i double posted because i'm just about to finish this thread...

I've used several and had to help friends solve problems with a few, so here's my feedback.
Norton is the worst by far. Uses too much resource and can often block computer functions till "fixed."
AVG free is quite good but the new AVG 8, (paid version) has problems. It's bigger and much more complicated.
Customer support is good but slow to reply and no chat possible.
I am currently testing NOD32 and Bit Defender AV, and Trend Micro.
The problems with most are with the firewall. If you have/use a home or office network, watch out. AVG failed to set up easily with a network. There own staff had trouble sorting it out. Never did.
I prefer that AV programs do just that and not include a firewall. I have one on my modem/router and in Windows. They have yet to fail me.

There is one piece of hardware internet surfers shouldn't be without "a Router".

I also use the nod32 antivirus (only) not (internet security).

I used to use trend micro internet security 2008 but has become very system hungry.

Antispyware - Counterspy and spysweeper / Very good results

CCleaner to mop up the mess.

Never had an infection undetected.

"Diskless Angel" is another choice. It can make the OS such as Win XP to run totally in Ram as virtual image with or without hard disk. It is also bootable from CD/DVD/USB Flash which can be unpluged after booting, so it should be safe enough to avoid infection of virus because it is only a virtual image.

yeah NOD32 take the least memory among other Antivirus...and no i dont recommend using the smart security(the one included with the firewall)...last time i use it,my internet went so damn slow, the loading page...you wait for a long time and you'll get page cannot be displayed.their firewall is so tight, blocking the speed of internet.so NOD32 antivirus + some antispyware +you current firewall should be good...
