I think the movie hit me at a right time, right place kind of way. I enjoyed it the best this way: saw the movie, read the book, saw the movie. It can really add some depth to all the subtlety that Blade Runner has...besides, the book has a parallel but slightly different story to tell. Hey, whatever floats your boat though, right?

As far as I know it was always alluded to but never really confirmed one way or another. I never saw the documentary either. That's part of the allure of Blade Runner - it keeps you guessing after watching it :)
I'm of the opinion that he was, all the pics on his piano, his unusual compassion for Rachael and the fact that he was so good at spotting (other) replicants - takes one to know one, eh?
Anyone ever watch "Man Bites Dog"? That was a pretty wild flick.

I've often wondered if Bladerunner would have been so good if Vangellis had not done the score,I mean its the music along with the sfx that makes it so moody.

2001 I didn`t think was that great. Stanley Kubrick has done a lot better with Shinning, Full Metal Jacket and clockwork orange. 2001 was pretty boring and I didn`t think it really sold the point.
For Blade runner, that was an amazing film. But only if your talking Directors cut. The voice over was very annoying. There should definetly be less voice overs!
DaOst, Great escape was great film. I like Steve Mcqueen jumping the fence. But if you watch the comments on the film, he was quite irritating to work with. For T2, I agree the SE version is good. I bought it recently on the Extreme Edition. this isn`t bad. Very similar to the Ultimate Edition, but since thats out of print I had to get the Extreme one. The Extreme DVD version is garbage, you miss out on some special features and it doesn`t have the Directors commentary.

I liked Aliens, 2010 (not a typo, the sequal to 2001). The Thing with Kurt Russle (the movie, not Goldie Hawn). And all 3 Evil Dead movies
Honorable mentions go to: LOTR:ROTK, Event Horizon and the matrix trilogy (you might not all agree with that last one, but i like sci-fi)
As for Comedy: Bruce Almighty, Spaceballs, and the greatest of all time: Ferris Bueller's day off.

One of the funniest comedies that pops into my head is Sixteen candles. That was funny.
Other good ones: Strange Brew, Real Genius and UHF.

eerr kinda drunk but this springs to mind as gooda movie sequance as I ever heard
its reminds Me of T2 by the way think james cameron tried to pinch it??.....
ok as I remember it
Ive seen things you ppl wouldnt believe ....
he does a mmmm or hhhhmmmm then ......attacked ships on fire of the of the shoulder of orion ....I watched sea beams......glitter in the darkness for 10 hours a day...... .......or ten hours a day '...........never figured that bit' ....all those moments in time will be lost like tears in the rain ......
roy then says Time to die 'if I recall ' nods a lil n terminates
damm thats a so cool film its unreal
I opersonally believe that james cameron took blade runner n made it his own is T2 when the terminator learned the value of HUMAN LIFE .....
as RoY did 11 years earlier ?? what ya think??

DaOst, I do remeber the film quite well. The Extreme edition is almost an exact copy of the Ultimate edition. Alleast for the movie disc side. The only difference is the bonsus disc of the extreme edition has a high resolution cut of the film in Win Media 9 version. The major bonus with the Extreme edition is that its the first time James cameron has recorded a live scene specific commentary. James Cameron and william wisher are seperated with Cameron on the right speaker and wisher on the left.
I don't think james cameron was riping off Bladerunner. Some of the final messages are similar, but James cameron has always has a doom out look on humanity and technology. His messages or more of how to fix us. Bladrunner was more about our fear of the unknown.

How about the best, most titillating love scene?
Mine goes to several of the scenes with Gina Gershon and Jennifer Tilly in the movie "Bound".

Do you mean like porn love scene or romantic love scene?
For Holliwood love pornish I would say Fight club, that was a cool setup with all the cameras.
For romantic love scene I would say Charlie Chaplins City Lights. Theres no sex, but what the characters do for love is quite romantic.

Both. I like how from the very start of the movie it slowly builds up to the deliciously naughty scene.

Prisoner - I don't know if I would say Bladerunner is the fear of the unknown (I know we might be beating a dead horse here on the Bladerunner front), but I would say it really speaks about the ability to know one's self at all. Truly existential in some ways (I think Sartre is smartre! For all you fans of The Critic out there).
As an interesting side note - Bladerunner was filmed mostly in downtown LA. That 20's and 30's architecture (first grand and then grand & depressive) really stands out down there as they clean it up (ironically) and you can almost feel the set of the movie there when it is late at night and foggy. Cool stuff really...the police department is the downtown train station inside!

otnemeM or Memento<-- those who seen that movie, know what I mean, is the best. Clever script, well acted, and throws you for a loop when you get to the end. Also, I would have to say the usual suspects is another great film. can't overlook the lord of the rings trilogy as a whole. Almost flawless

Very good films, I own both and just watched Das Boot today :)
The Professional is one of my faves. Gary Oldman was simply insane in that film!
