Instead of you experts, talking jibberish, how about giving a brief summary?
My impression from this posts is as follows, feel free to Yes/No these questions.
- 0.0.43b is a lot more secure for Xbox Live.
- If you previously flashed your Xbox using JF .26 you've lost data.
- If you had a fresh clean Xbox, and used .43 your quids in.
Anyone care to clarify?

pretty much that's wat ppl are thinking, but hasn't really been confirmed yet. Except .43 isn't ALOT more secure just a lil more if .26 makes u lose serial data

Just doing a little more testing with the serial info, and I used DummyGen.exe from DVDKey32 v8.1 and ran into a problem. When the dummy.bin is created, it is missing the majority of the serial info except in the first line. Anybody that used it might want to check your dummy.bin. JF .43 will notice it and prompt you. Continue to use JF .43 because it is picking up all the serial info and putting it in your dummy.bin

Ah, beat me to it.
I was just getting ready to post that link. That was a good find. People can rebuild and reflash their drive. Of course, those who have had it done by someone else may be screwed.
In all honestly, I think either the thread title should be changed, or a new thread started alerting all to the fact that old dump methods were flawed.

I just posted something on there but no one ever seems to reply to me on there. Can you tell me how I'd know if i've lost the information. I used JF .43 to do it, unfortunatly it crashed and didn't get to save the logs.
I have all the .bin files and Xbox works a treat ATM

load your dummy.bin into jungleflasher firmware32 tab (load source firmware) them tick the advanced view box you can check the drive serial info if its mainly FF FF FF then u have lost some info.
But if you used .43 you should be ok anyways

ok i changed the thread title... that guy OggyUK is a saint he's done a lot of work on this issue ...
although i have to admit the thought of opening my xbox again, then taking apart the DVD drive and reflashing it does not really appeal to me right now ... i will wait a few days and see how this solution develops...
also i'm unclear on the whole A0 A1 thing ... how do we know if they were erroneously added during the dump or they are actually supposed to be there... seems confusing ...

Yep, same here. I've got 3 consoles to play with, so I'm going to hold off reflashing my LO for a few days. We'll see if anything new developes.
You know, something this important... you'd think the other sites would be posting it as news.

When you get around to it. look on the DVD drive, right above the firmware version, is the Hardware version. Mine says HW Ver: A0A1 ... Could this be what the A0A1 is in the serial info? can anybody look on their lite-on to see if we have different HW versions out there?

I have done 4 LO drives. Three of them had the correct info and added with no error in JF .43 version.
The only one that didn't have the correct info and got the error when adding was my LO dummy.bin file. So I opened up the drive and recreated the info in the hex editor which seemed to have worked.
But all dummy files that dumped properly had both A0 and A1.

Thanks for this info, I only flashed my new jasper unit on Tuesday last week and the new Jungle Flasher came out on Wednesday.
Using all the info and links from this thread helped me take apart my 360 again, grab my lost serial information from the dvd drive and re-flash with a edited version of my original dummy.bin.
All this after my drive locked up during the erase process and dosflash came to the rescue, but that's a whole different story :)
Cheers

You have to manually install PortIO32 in Vista to get JF .43 to work so you can unlock your drive to read/dump the key, the soft method works great for Samsung and BenQ drives. Dumping is supported for Hitachi but there's no flash support on the beta version.. Liteons!! Don't even get me started, your on your own!lol

if you read from the top of page 3 down its explained that there is a way to possibly recover the information physically from the drive itself

When you click on his link, the page fails because "http://" is there twice. Just delete one set and reload.
