I have been playing live for 4 months with only burnt games and this is the first game i cant get to run on my xbox trying a few techniques ive picked up...i was wondering how can i find out the the firmware of my modded xbox (it was done at a local shop which is now closed or moved). O and it was guitar hero metallica that i couldnt get to run..is it worth trying a reloaded iso or should I figure out how to upgrade my xbox..ps i have not modded the xbox myself so am clueless where to start

if you are fairly confident your copy of the game is good, then i would venture a guess that your firmware is less than 1.51 which is needed to play 3rd wave games.

are you confident iextreme is the only method used for modding xboxs or is it possible another program was used? basically what im asking is it always iextreme?

ixtreme isnt a program, its the fw on the drive. i think there was regular, unstealthed extreme fw, but its so old i doubt you have that.

I'm assuming that you mean iExtreme but yes, you will need to update to 1.51 to play new games on this list.
If you are actually using Xtreme firmware the the games will play but you will get banned from XBOX Live.
Actually, i've read that you can play 3rd wave games on the non-stealth ixtreme firmware (sorry if someone mentioned this before me... i'm on my iphone and i can't read everything)

That is true, you can play on non-stealth iExtreme but its sucide to play on live with that, so most people stay away.

fw = Firmware
Firmware is what tells the drive what to do and how to recieve and process commands from the motherboard. iExtreme is a custom firmware for 360 drives that enables them to read "back-up" copys of original games. As far as i know iExtreme is the only firmware out there right now for modding a 360 drive. As for programs and ways to write the iExtreme firmware there are numerous ways.

good news ive confirmed that my xbox is running on iextreme and it is on either 1.4 or 1.5 either way the shop is asking me for 40 bux but i want to find out how to upgrade this myself safely..

got it from my friend so i didnt run it. I put the disk which he burnt to a memorex dvd in my 360 and it doesnt read it

I've played it and beat it. Best game out right now if you ask me. Multiplayer sucks though. Why not just upgrade anyway? It came out on 4/2/2009. Pretty sure it is.
