Funny how you didn't say this from the start.
If you know so much and know who made Preloader and how it works then tell us how would adding a bad theme delete Preloader?
Most sites that offer themes (including Softmii) recommend Preloader or Bootmii to protect from a brick. The only way Bootmii will protect from a brick is if it is installed to Boot2. So those that can only install Bootmii as an IOS should use Preloader (which these circumstances effect allot of users).
In any case I recommend using both of them. it doesn't hurt anything to have both installed. As well Preloader has hacks that can be enabled which bootmii does not.

I never said don't install preloader, I'm just saying it's not 100% effective against all brick's. It creates a false sense of security. Luckily we test our themes before posting so you reduce your chance of a brick.
When we create our themes, we have to make a separate theme for each system menu version. If someone isn't careful,(i've done it, thankfully I had savemiifrii) there are 2 ways you can brick and preloader is deleted. One you mess up the ipl_common.bmg or you write to the wrong app.

i followed the guide and did it 3 times and i still got the lag like 3-5 seconds until the wii menu comes up so i have to have preloader not there at all and i do make sure the themes i use is for 4.0 only i wont install it if its not for 4.0 and i have the bootmii on the homebrew channel i think its bootmii2 and that wouldnt even load when i had preloader installed so i aint gonna bother with preloader unless i can fix the laging time 3-5 secondsd to load the wii menu after you power it on

I have 4.0 with preloader and have no problems.

Just a question to shoot out there since preloader seems to be a subtopic here, if bootmii cant be installed as boot2, it was said that having preloader installed can recover from almost all bricks besides system menu brick. How would one go about recovering from a brick with only preloader?

Press reset while turning on the Wii System and Preloader should boot.

This is an app that Waninkoko created
What you need
Cios rev14
Sd/USB device
Menu patcher 1.2
Menu patcher 1.2
How to use
create the folder directory
/title/00000001/00000002/content
copy your custom system menu .app(like .00000042.app) into the content folder
rename the app to 00000001.app
Load Menu Patcher v1.2 and enable "Content Override" feature.
This way you can reduce your risk of a brick without bootmii or preloader, it runs off the device and you're not installing it to your nand.

it's an app that has to be run through the hbc,
the folders start at the root of the sd card

Depends on the brick.
If it was due to a theme just replace the theme with the original backup that you should have created.
If it was due to a WAD file use AnyTitleDeleter and delete the corrupt title.
Why not do a little research and learn this stuff on your own. Thats how I learned it.

i dont know if u can help me here or not but my wii is 95% bricked unless i order a mod chip my menu wont load i installed a corrupted theme i can boot the wii into recovery mode but thats it

Did you make a backup of your theme before overwriting it?
If so did you try recovering it by using the backup that you SHOULD have made?
If you can get into Preloader still you can launch the HBC from it and then install your backup theme.

frii mii i think its called where you use the gamecube controller thingo where it shows the current firmware on the bottom of the screen

Can you get into Maintenance mode?
At the press A screen hold down - and + keeping them down while pressing A.
All of this just because of 3 seconds? Such a shame.

no i cant unfortunately it wont load that screen at all it says the system files are corrupted please read the operations manual for trouble shooting that entire part all those letters are like not loaded like example the letter a is chopper off the top and the letter c is chopped of the side sorta kinda its like that on alll of them but wen i move the d pad on the wii mote some of them load properly its so wierd

Then you need a Modchip and use an auto-boot disc to recover. So just do what you already plan to do.

Can you please use your previous thread you linked to above. That way there won't be tons of post that others have to wade through. This all could have been avoided if you only followed the directions.
I just hope others see this and realize how important preloader (and Bootmii installed to Boot2) can be. Even if it does take 3 extra seconds to boot the System up.
