I post again. This forum thing is fun! WEEE!
I have a serious question now, no more messing around. I'm sincerely sorry for all my previous posts that DESERVINGLY insulted you. With that said, are you really a girl? Are you hot? Are you over 18? I hope your not 10, that would be SICK. If you are 18+ and sexy my number is (425) 268-5790
PS: I would prefer a 29-23-30 figure. I'm a college student... ASIAN. Hot stuff I tell ya.

don't take the part where they state i'm a girl too seriously, it's just to insult me ?
like every other post in this thread.
all i said was dvd-r is sh*t. my opinion after 2 years.
you need to buy jewel cased media (verbatim, tdk, pioneer.....etc), you need to keep the size of the compression as low as you can (no dts), you shouldn't label discs...........
it's not frustration, it's just i cant be bothered to worry, just buy the original again if the movie is that good.
why would you watch a dvd-r if you own the original ?
i wouldn't.
my advice would be don't bother with it wait for blu-ray or if you must dual layer dvd-r
i don't remember vhs jumping and freezing after 2 years.......mmmm
keep the insults coming, this is great.

to answer your question
Quote: don't take the part where they state i'm a girl too seriously, it's just to insult me ?
yes it is because u are so ignorant of the amazingly knowledgable people on this forum, just because you cant get good backups doesent mean theres no point
and if you just want to buy the original again go ahead what do we care? its no loss to us
but think about this u have your two bought movies and you spill something on them oops it ok you can just go out and buy another one, but oh no theyve stoped selling them what a shame your fav movie is no more, what will you do then eh?
Ps if you really think DVD r's are a waste of time what you doing here? leave, we wont miss idiots like u clogging up all the forums
just piss off, and leave us in peace we havent got time to be messing about with ungrateful little twats like u, is that clear enough? no pixelation problems? the writing clear?

the first set of dvd-r media i purchased with advice from this forum. at first everything was great apart from some movies were slightly blocky, but then a few months later about 50% of these discs i was recommended were unplayable. after that i used only verbatim datalife plus jeweled. bullshit advice is a great advantage ain't it.
dellusions you may have that in 10 years you will be watching you dvd-r discs with no problems, is quite amusing, no hold on very f*ckin funny.
why can't people on this forum just accept it is far from a perfect recordable format.
as for knocking blu-ray, can't wait till you are posting on here praising blu-ray over dvd-r.

Just wanted to say, in reply to SG's last post...you can't wait for us to praise blu-ray over dvd-r? you're gonna have to mate, it won't happen for a while!
i sincerely doubt im the only one on here that WON'T be rushing out and spending that much money on a new technology. Hell, my first DVD-r drive only cot me £200!
Thats it, Im off to be happy as my team won 2day.....
Take care all...

did anybody on here say they were a perfect form of backup media?
no
usually it is human error, not The discs u use (although there is some crappy media out there) that make blocky copys, no offence but it was probably either
A, your computer specs
B, your Backup Process eg the software u used
or C, you dont no how to do it properly so your just blaming us for your mistakes
im interested, what media did u use first?

also i think this thread is the most fun the forum has been in a long time, taking a break from being serious and having a dig.
also if u r all so intelligent, why are you on this forum ? you should have great wages and should be able to afford prerecorded dvd's. and if you want to transfer all your home video to dvd, there is a service which does'nt cost a lot. and it aint no dvd-r it's a proper pressed disc.
keep it up c*cksuckers.

SGDVD, its good to hear that finally, you are making an effort to.. well, not sound damn ignorant. In the last few posts, I see your point. It is far different in tone than your first post, which was pretty pathetic. Yea yea, DVD-R is far from perfect copies, which is why I kept saying over and over again about dual layer - which you did acknowledge.
It all depends on what you want, really. I copy PS2 games mostly which are DVD5 and I'm not super crazy about movies so I usually buy the ones I really want and copy the others... of course after layered burners I will probably never buy a DVD again.
As for blu-ray... everyone should be anticipating it, I don't see why not. Its good stuff. That doesn't mean I still wont be making DVD9s either. I've mentioned b4 that blue-ray is the next BIG thing, dvds will NOT die out, and it WILL be possible to make perfect copies. Simple as that.
Too bad your not a girl.

He's got a good point. I don't understand why none of the people he said didn't know anything have gone to his house to hold his hand while he backs up his DVDs. I mean we all get paid big bucks to help immature children who cry about how something's no good because they don't understand it right? 8D

alseids i totally agree about games.
as for ps2 games i personally made 30 to 40 and never had a problem at all, but then i finally swapped out my ps2 for an xbox. games are worth it totally as consoles & games are outdated all the time. by the time the discs fail it won't matter as you will have an updated console.
as for movies i got sick of ripping them, compressing them then burning them, and then after a few months they would skip on one dvd player then play fine on another........pain in the arse.
i'm not really talking about the game side of dvd-r cause that really was worth doing as games are much more expensive if they are damaged. easy as piss to do rip an image and burn. movies are cheap enough now days.
for the record i do know how to back up a dvd and have never done it wrongly, was easy to join flippers with VOB edit (before DVD2One had this feature), my mistake was listening to these fucking idiots about quality media. after that i will never use another budget dvd-r again, verbs & tdk only for me.
i ain't stupid at all, probably know a lot more about backing up dvd-r than most of you in this thread, never said i couldn't back them up or was stuck, oh well, what i was trying to say was if some dvd-r media are failing after a few months, how long will the best last ? and i don't think it will be even 5 years, so to me after weighing it out i'd rather not bother.
cd-r does not last it's expected lifetime but who gives a shit, cd's are a faster process all round.

vurbal: Oh!
Sarcasm.....
And there was me thinking that you were proposing we should help SGDVD out with his problems!!!
Actually, come to think of it..... ;)
We are all here to help out, aren't we???
So why don't we all (those of us U.K. based anyway) arrange to pop down to Devon and give him a visit..
We could see what he is doing wrong with his backup procedures (though it is difficult to imagine WHAT he could be doing wrong, seeing as he has a Pioneeer A05 and uses Verbatim disks - maybe it is his old and slow system).... ;)
Anyhow, we could get together and have a look,
he could explain to us all how we are wrong,
and we could explain to him where he is going wrong...
We could all pile into his little room and make with the Oooohhs and Aaaahhs over his Home Theatre system, maybe play some of our DVDs and see if we can notice any pixellation etc...
As long as he keeps the kids out, there should be enough room, Eh!!
So, go on SGDVD, invite us down so we can socialise with you, so we can bury the hatchet - those of Irish descent are noted for being sociable, after all...
Have Fun....
