What are you talking about!! Fargo was a great film. Nothing beats the chiper shreader image from that film. Are you being serious, or just tring to get debate.
Fargo was far from terrible. Species 2 now thats terrible, I know what you did last summer, thats terrible. But Fargo was great.

Most of the films by the Coen brothers seem to be very polarizing - some people just don't like the style and think they are really stupid but others, like me, love them to pieces. Raising Arizona and Big Lebowski are two of my favorite films ever!

* off topic but worthy*
Quote: Nothing beats the chiper shreader image
At my old apt complex some guy committed suicide by jumping head first into a landscape crew's wood chipper while they were working not 50 yards from my apt. By the time the crew shut it off only his calves and feet were sticking out. I drove right by it when I came home from work, they already had his legs out and were hosing the chipper off. Messy!

that is crazy, I don`t know what my response to seeing that in person would be.
But come to think about it, most do have mixed feelings. Depends on your sense of humour I guess.

Fargo was a terrible movie (from the first 30 ta 40 minutes I saw of this flick) it's like t.v. show's, if it doesn't interest me in 3 minutes I change the channel, but in this case the only reason I stayed so long cause I payed to see it, not to sleep.

Well i thought fargo was an ace movie, full of sharp dark humour and great acting. It's a shame there arent more like it. All we get are these days are those pathetic Hollywood blockbusters that cater for the "brainless" amongst the general population. They are mindnumbing!!
Nephilim, good point about the woodchipper, everytime i see that part in Fargo I crease up
Looking for my old AD

geestar: I don't want to be disrespectful, really. But if you lose interest after 3 minutes, there really aren't going to be too many movies to your liking. I think you are missing out on a lot of pretty good stuff. Have you thought of getting checked for Attention Span Deficit? Maybe Ritalin would help...Don't get mad, I'm just trying to help.

OK, Neph you had to open the door to gore. It won't be long before we begin to receive comparative woodchipper stories from around the globe. We will be forced to recommend movies such as the Evil Dead to apease them, but that won't be enough as the demand for ever increasing gore grows. The truth is some movies are so bad that they're entertaining and even woodchipper gore can become a prop for an unintended warped comedy. Who ever thought that Ed Wood movies would be come cult classics.

Fargo was great! I loved Steve Buscemi's (one sided) argument with Peter Stormare in the car.
Quote: "Oh f*ck it, I don't have to talk either man. See how you like it... Just total f*cking silence. Two can play at that game, smartguy. We'll just see how you like it - Total silence."
That was priceless!

geestar: Like I said, no offense. As you can tell, there is much disagreement about the quality of movies. Some try to grab you within the first 3-4 minutes and when they do, they may just carry you through to the end (Few of them do...) Others build very gradually and take a while to get your attention. That doesn't always do it either...
In this thread, there are people who hate 'The Godfather','Gone With The Wind', 'Chariots Of Fire', 'Fargo' and 'Lost In Translation', all critically acclaimed and most of them Oscar winners...I my case, I wasn't all that crazy about 'The Return Of The King' its 200 minutes and its 11 Oscars.
It is so nice to be able to hang loose, blurt out what you want and then see the horseshit you just came up with - all by yourself - show up a few seconds later in print and for all to see. That's why it's called 'Safety Valve'.

My wife thinks that everything that comes in a foreign language with subtitles is artistic. I think it's mostly all mundane boring crap. Just my opinion of course.

Sophocles: with a name like 'Sophocles', I wasn't expecting that kind of comment. And then: 'Once you eliminate the impossible etc..' Very thoughtful...but calling all foreign movies 'mundane boring crap' comes a bit as a surprise from 'Sophocles', what can I say. As I said before, its nice to be able to blurt out all sort of outrageous stuff in this forum. As a matter of fact, while I'm thinking about it, liking any movie with Keanu Reeves or Brad Pitt is a sign of ambiguous sexuality and should be punished by having you spend a week in the woods with Jerry Falwell and Al Sharpton.

Siber I've seen many movies with subtitles that were good (although few were chosen by my wife). Movies with foreign langauge soundtracks and subtitles alone aren't enough for them to rise to artistic recognition, (Now if only I can convince my wife of that). Trust me there are many stinkers out there that get rave reviews by critics who while sipping French wines, become intoxicated and transfixed by the simple, yet unrevealing, and often directionless and meaningless English text that marquee at the botom of the screen. We aren't talking about Shakespearean theater here, we're having fun and voicing our personal opinions about movies we like, or not.+

You wanna know another movie that I thought SUCKED!!!!
"biker boy's" I can't even beleive I even rented this retarded movie.
Abunch of old guy's going threw mid life crisis trying to race and be cool with a bunch of wanna be try-cyclers (as in trying to ride bikes)
Now that i think of it, I would rather watch a bland movie like "FARGO" than "Biker Boy's"

Grease (forced to watch that piece of crap over and over by an idiot gorlfriend) and Chicago (got through 20 min. and wanted to gouge my eyes and ears out). I have a severe aversion to musicals.
