bugatii Veryon ~ 1000 BHP 250MPH

previously the Mclaren f1 with a top end of 240MPH

over a 250 miles race you could get 100 miles away in the mclarren, then start the bugatti and the bugatti would still beat the mclaren to the finnish line with seconds to spare

the mclarren is like a tortoise compared to that Bugatti - theres no other car quite like

infact its got more power than a formula 1 car and would actually beat schumaccers ferrari round the track quite easily

Steady 253 mph: 2.1 mpg

i know theres a customised torana here in australia thats running at 3500HP.i also heard about a limited edition Mclaren maxing out at 506kmphh and a custom made car running 4 V8 engines at 2400Hp.most of the racing model cars arn't street legal in australia and V12 arn't legal here.the fastest caqr you could own here would be a V8 torana,commodore or monaro.my friends commodore maxed out at 412kmph but he got defected cause the car was too powerful for normal road use.it was a VB commodore drag model with a V8engine in it and 4speed manual.

just imagine how much power you could get out of a customised one of those bugattis though. it accelerates so quick its unbeliveable as it is. 0- 60 in like 4 seconds if your good enough at changing the gears.

apparently though at top end the fuel will only last for 12 minuites. but 12 minuites @ 250Mph would get you pretty far as your covering nearly 5 miles every minuite

The Buggatti is limited to 250mph, what it would do unleashed......

I've done 170mph a few times on a GSXR-750, quite a rate of knots, Germany is awesome! 160mph for 10 miles is sweet!
I once did London to my home in Yorkshire in 1hr 45mins, not bad for 220 miles. I had to stop every eighty miles to refuel. 26mpg!

The fastest production car on the current market is the Swedish made
Koenigsegg CCR, with and 806 hp supercharged V8 engine capable of an
acceleration rate from 0-60mph in 3.2 seconds and a top speed 245
miles per hour plus (I guess they were too afraid to see ?exactly? how
fast it will go). It?s companion model, the CC8S has a 655hp engine
that reaches 60mph in 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of about 242
mph.

The Koenigsegg CCR is an automobile made by Koenigsegg. Designed and manufactured in Ängelholm, Sweden, it debuted at the 2004 Geneva Auto Show. The manufacturers claim that their car is the fastest road car in the world with a theoretical top speed of more than 385 km/h (240 mph). The car reached a top speed of 388 km/h (241 mph) on February 28, 2005 breaking the world speed record for a production car (the previous record holder was the McLaren F1, which had a top speed record for over 10 years of 240.14 mph). In May, 2005 not long after the CCR claimed the McLaren's record as its own, the honour was given to a prototype of long awaited Bugatti Veyron which obliterated the previous record with a top speed of 400 km/h (248.5 mph). The final production model of the Veyron reached a speed of 253 mph (407.5 kph) in the hands of Car and Driver in their January 2006 issue.

Based on the Koenigsegg CC8S, the CCR is the top-end car produced by Koenigsegg. It retains all the features of the CC8S, and has a new side air intake design, a tweaked headlight arrangement, a revised rear, bigger-sized brakes, more power and new front splitters for optimized downforce.

The improved power engine was made possible by the use of a unique Swedish Lysholm twin-screw compressor and a new titanium exhaust system. This takes the power output to a maximum of 806 hp (601 kW) at 6,900 rpm. Torque is also distributed evenly, and peaks at 920 Nm (678 ft.lbf) at 5,700 rpm.

Final version of CCR is equipped with twin Rotrex centrifugal compressors. Boost pressure has been increased from 1.2 bar to 1.4 bar. It shows same maximum power (806hp) at 7,000 rpm, same maximum torque (920 Nm) at 5,400 rpm. (Note: This information of performance is partially updated in their official page.)

To honour the Swedish Fighter Jet Squadron No. 1, (Johan röd) which had occupied the current facility of Koenigsegg, the CCR is adorned with a symbol of a ghost. The ghost is the symbol of the squadron.

On February the 28th 2005, at 12.08 local time, the Koenigsegg CCR broke the production road car speed record, achieving a new official top speed of 388 (387.87) km/h at Italy?s Nardo Prototipo proving ground.

A team of five Koenigsegg engineers and mechanics together with founder Christian von Koenigsegg ran, a technically standard Koenigsegg CCR in order to take the top speed record for productions road cars. The famous supercar test driver, Loris Bicocchi who is a veteran recorder breaker, drove the CCR.

The Koenigsegg CCR raised McLaren's previously unofficial mark of 372 km/h set at Nardo/Prototipo in 1993 with over 15 km/h. On top of this the CCR broke the official McLaren F1 record of 386.7 km/h, which was set on the 9 km straight line VW Ehra facility in Wolfsburg Germany. A team of Nardo Prototipo technicians independently verified the speed of the CCR. The car was clocked using Tag Heuer´s Splitmaster 650 with photocells stationary at the track, recording the average speed during 1 km.

Nardo Prototipo is a circular track with a circumference of 12.5 km. This means that the car is driven in a constant turning motion, which makes the exercise and speed even more impressive. The steering wheel at this speed is kept at around 30 degrees of constant angel, which equivalates to a sharp corner for the speed.

The constant turning motion of the car creates extra friction on the tires. This extra friction overcomes the extra horsepower that was needed for further acceleration. The maximum speed was reached at around 6790 rpm, which is not equivalent to the maximum hp level, which is at a higher rpm.

With this verification of speed, Christian von Koenigsegg is even more confident that the Koenigsegg CCR is capable of reaching its projected top speed of 395 km/h, or more, in a straight line.

MclarenF1 top speed is 372km/h at Italy?s Nardo Prototipo proving ground =386.7km/h on the 9 km straight line VW Ehra facility in Wolfsburg Germany. The world?s fastest street car

If you absolutely had to stake your mortgage on what?s the fastest accelerating street-legal car in the world, what do you suppose you?d go for? A Ferrari, perhaps, or a Lamborghini? Maybe a Porsche or an AMG Merc? Any one of a dozen exotic names, like as not. But, unless we?re very wrong, you probably wouldn?t bet on a K-registered 1993 Vauxhall Calibra. If you didn?t, though, you?d lose. Because it?s official: the fastest accelerating street legal car in the world really is a 12-year-old Vauxhall coupe, owned by Steve Pateman from Hitchin in Hertfordshire, who recently returned from America after beating the local street-legal dragstrip superstars at their own game. But you may have guessed, it?s no ordinary Calibra. Steve mainly built the car himself, on the basis of a professionally built chassis, with the help of Tom Rayner. There?s a ?works? Vauxhall connection, too, in the shape of Jim McGhee, who is a member of Steve?s support team and works for Vauxhall?s warehouse transport operation. But to be honest, that?s where the Vauxhall connections start to look a bit thin, because under the massive hood moulding of the red Calibra you aren?t going to find four or even six cylinders from the rather handsome old coupe version of the Cavalier; and you aren?t going to find the original car?s rather modest 115bhp either ? not even the turbo?s heady 201bhp. Oh, and don?t look for front-wheel drive either, or four comfy seats?
What?ll it do?
No, under this Calibra?s bulging but still instantly recognisable body work you?ll find a rather bigger punch ? from an 11.5-litre (yes that?s right) an 11.5-litre big-block Chevrolet V8 that again isn?t exactly Vauxhall but is at least part of the GM family. And if that isn?t enough, the mighty engine that Steve Pateman also largely built himself has nitrous injection, and claims a maximum power output of 1400bhp. So ?adequate?, then. 0-60? How about 1.25 seconds - enough to make motorbikes and F1 cars blush beetroot red. Certainly enough, even before he crossed the Atlantic, to have given Steve and the Calibra the title of fastest street legal car in Europe some time ago. But this time, the scalps were American and Canadian, too.
How does it stop?
The event was based at the appropriately named No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, Louisiana, where the Good Ole Boys know a thing or two about fast cars. But the competition takes to the streets properly, too ? because the rules say that you have to be able to do just that. Even though they also say that cars with sub-10-second standing quarter-mile times are obliged to have supplementary parachute braking systems. Just like Steve?s Calibra, which has a chute sandwiched between a remarkably standard looking rear bumper and the less than standard big rear wing. Fire systems, full roll cages and full racing harnesses are also required ? but continuing the weirdness, so are lights, wipers and a horn, plus street-legal treaded tyres and registration plates ? and tax, insurance and MOT!
That?s because every car has to run at some point on standard unleaded petrol, and to complete a road route (in this case around the rural roads surrounding the raceway) of around 25 miles ? presumably without destroying the road surface or frightening the locals half to death, although that bit isn?t actually written down. If they don?t get back to the dragstrip unaided, that?s the end of their chances. Steve Pateman and the Calibra did get back, totally within the regulations, and in the match-race knockout series that followed they blew away all-comers, including three other competitors from the UK. His winning time for the classic standing quarter is 8.2 seconds, with a terminal speed of more than 168mph. And if you know of a faster street-legal Calibra than that, we?d be pleased to hear from you.

At 254MPH its faster than the bugatii Veryon. Funny going along in your new Veryon and a 1988 corvette passes you.

We are not complaining about the 26mpg (And most cars will do more than that. We are complaining that our petrol (gas) cost 3 times the amount of yours.

The only reason my bike did 26mpg is that the throttle was pretty much wide open all the way home!

Who's complaining? Not I!

My bike would hit 100 in 5.5 seconds. (I read a road test on my bike, it did 0-100mph & back to zero in 10.5 seconds) Not many cars can beat that. All for a fraction of the cost of these "supercars".

No such thing as a traffic jam either....

ive been in a calibre but here in australia they are called holden calibre unless your talking about a fully imported model(in which case it might be opal or vauxhall).as for petrol australias are going made cause its $1.30per litre here but i hear its a lot worse in england.fastest car ive been in was an old holden commodore V8 maxed out over 200mph and the speedo blew up so we didnt get the final speed.
