yeah i am having problems with dvd shrink. i recently tried brining a dvd and it had an error message come up and say, "DVD Shrink has encounterd an error, and cant continue. Invalid DVD navigation structure." now everytime i try to burn a different dvd, it says the same thing... is there anyway i can go into my computer settings and change or erase something to clear that junk out or something? im very comp literate and am having trouble burning now, no dvds work. please help!!!
Hi daltonr_5
Have you checked your dvdshrink settings? that message has happened to me, sometimes but due to the fact that is repeatedly bringing the same error message to every dvd is strange. You could check through the AD guide here: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd9_to_dvdr_with_dvd_shr... strange.
And also within shrink itself, there is more help within the help tab available.
If all fails, with mine i use DVD Decrypter to rip it then open and burn with shrink, this gets me through without fail. if you want to compare settings, My shrink preference settings are
PREFERENCES TAB:
I have DVD-5 (4.7GB) and all the user preferences selected.
PREVIEW TAB:
Stereo selected for audio preview
System default renderer selected for video renderer.
and enable preview - up to you
OUTPUT FILES TAB:
I have all boxes selected exept for Logical remapping of enabled streams.
STREAM SELECTIONS TAB:
I have English selected for language and coding types as an AC3.
Sub picture lang is set to all languages, i have disable all subpicture part unchecked.
FILE I/O TAB:
Have read 32Kb blocks check RPC2 drive region both selected.
Enable burn with Nero selected with others unselected.
as this works fine for me.
Sounds like shrink cant locate it properly though. Is your pc noticing that the disk is in your drive? But if all fails do a google on the error and see what comes of that. you can always try re installing it, but see what some experienced replys say first.
Macey.
It may also have something to do with the newer copywrite protections being utilized today. DVDShrink and DVDDecrypter are no longer being updated to handle these encryption techniques.
This will handle most of the newer encryptions. You could also download the free 21 day trial of AnyDVD from http://www.slysoft.com as this is the premier of encryption breaking software programs.
I use AnyDVD and DVDShrink and DVDdecrypter or imgburn to do most of my backups and have no problems.

9mmruger is correct this error usually has to do with copy protection that cannot be handled. Try the programs he listed or rip using DVDFab Decrypter which is free and can handle the new protections and then use Shrink. You can clear out your leftover analysis files from Shrink, this may help. Open My Computer then Documents and Settings, then All Users, Application Data, DVD Shrink. You can delete all but the 1Kb file.
