how can i fit a downloaded avi movie file from limewire onto a cd say i had a avi movie and it was 720 mb i wouldnt want to waste putting it on a dvd because there would be too much space left on the dvd. So how would i compress an avi movie to a single cd???????

if you only want to burn the avi to a cd use virtual dub and increase the compression if you want to create a vcd to play on a home dvd player try avi2dvd

Just overburn, I've done it a few times, and it's only 20MB over.

Sorry philraz, but how can you watch the movie if it's been compressed to RAR? I'm unaware of any player that can do that.

And surely the OP doesn't want to extract the movie every time he/she wants to watch it.

From past experience overburning only 20MB will not do any damage to a burner, it's when you start overburning larger amounts you may risk damage.

hi umug
which brings me back to my first question does the other person merly want to get the AVI onto a disk or create a VCD or svcd
the statement about overburn was a warning I to have done overburns with no damage but the risk still does exist

Hi philraz,

I see what you mean, I read the question as the OP wanting to just burn an AVI onto a CD as is, as he hasn't been back to answer either your reply or mine either he's figured it out, is too busy, or lost interest so we may never know ;)
