I have a messiah 3.2 modchip installed on my ps2. i had installed by a third party and as far as i know it works fine. However to turn the modchip off you are supposed to hold the reset(power) button for a few seconds at start up. This poses a problem for playing online because the chip must be turned off when going online to prevent a dnas error. and i know that it MUST be turned off because i tried with an original ps2 game and it still gave me a dnas error until i turned the chip off. i have a picture of my current installation and the connection diagram at

http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/orgy_us_69/album?.dir=/19be&.src=ph

What i intend to do is install a seperate button and mount it on the case to turn off the chip without having to power off or reset the console. But what i don't know is if the reset pad on the chip needs to be connected to ground or vcc. Does anyone know what happens to the chip when you press the power button? or even if i connect a switch at vcc to break the connection unless i turn it on. Do you think that would damage the chip if i did something like that?

yes i'm sure and i'm not playing import games, i'm playing backups of N.American games online. but for sure the chip (at least on my ps2) has to be turned off. could be because of the person that installed it installed it wrong but i doubt it because i've checkd the connections and they seem proper cept for one i've noticed but i think it's because the connection picture has a different version ps2 in it.

but it doesn't much matter now because i installed a swich between the main power(3v) and the chip. But when i went to turn on the ps2 (with the switch on) nothing happened, the ps2 came on and turned off right away. With the switch off the ps2 comes on...but the display just flickers, no picture, no nothing... so i think that it's fubared... Think that if i totally disconnected every pin of the chip that it may work if i just fried the chip? oh btw i removed the switch and re soldered the wire back onto the chip from 3v...but same problem.. comes on and nothing happens.
