Hi there. New member to the forums, but I've been here once or twice. Seems to be THE place to go to for assistance with console modding and such. Introductions aside...

I just got the Swap Magic complete set, which includes all the tools I need to play imports and backups for PS1 and PS2 games on my PS2, any version. I have a slim, possibly v13. I've tried using the small metal tool (E) so I wouldn't have to open the console, but I just can't get it to hit the switch and then STAY there...much less with closing the disk top.

So I decided I'd open up the PS2 and put in that little piece to hold down the switch thing. While the front of the PS2 opened up a little bit (it was held in with tabs) I couldn't get the back open. I've VERY cautious, and I didn't exactly want to force it the rest of the way open in fear of breaking it.

So...what is the CORRECT way to open the PS2 slim without breaking it? I couldn't find my answer on the forums after searching. As far as I see, there were only four screws to remove on the bottom. Unless I'm missing some, or the no-slide "feet" corners are screws as well, I think that's it.

So, how do I do it? I don't want to break my console, especially since it's new and works so well. I'm almost wishing I either had gotten a no-soldier chip or have someone professionally do it for me.

ok, there are 6 screws, 2 of the plastic things come off and the screw are uner there. to take it off, just lift from the LEFT and just lift the rest of the way LEFT TO RIGHT. thats all. dont worry, it wont break even if you use force

Thanks, I actually just figured it out not too long ago. I was so excited, hehe...

I'm sure I'm not the only one who made this oversight though. Now, to figure out how to hold down that switch with a strurdy, small piece of tape...

thats easy. DONT USE SCOTCH TAPE! some dude, said that it l=had like 20000vt of staic electricy and it will damage ur ps2. better off using duct tape like i used to. here ya go

Just about the same, just a change on Censor 'A' and Censor 'B'

keep the top closed, while you tape down the disk stopper, using a few layers of duct tape

use tiny strips of duct tape to patch over the tiny censor. I used a screwdriver to help put on the tape.
