I've had the following programs recommended as a way of backing up close to 100% of DVDs (inc. Sony protected DVDs); ANY DVD and CLONE DVD 2.

I checked the guides with regard to Clone DVD2 and basicaly (as afterdawn has had to remove ripper info.) there is no info. on the ripping process. The guide stops there and continues after you are presumed to have done the ripping. Afterdawn do not censor the forums so which ripper do I need?
I ought to point out that I recently obtained a copy of 'DVD Xcopy xpress'(it's from 2003 and INCLUDES the ripper) so am I better off using this instead of Clone DVD2 - with 'Any DVD' running in the background to defeat Sony protection?
would this be faster and simpler as it has built in ripper?
Will this combination copy virtualy 100% of DVD-5 and DVD-9 disks to single DVD ??
I thought I'd better ask this first rather than buy Clone DVD2 and then go on a hunt for a ripper for it.
Thanks.

i don't think(i'm sure)that dvdxcopy xpress or any 123 product would handle ARccoSS or RipGard movies. clonedvd2 and AnyDVD will, and with much, much better quality.

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

Hi john205,

Anydvd is the software that allows you to rip copy protected dvds to your hard drive or copy directly to a blank dvd. AnyDVD runs in the background and descrambles the encryption so that CloneDVD can make a backup copy of a dvd you personally own. Once AnyDVD recognizes the dvd and surpresses the copy protection then you can continue to back up your dvd. For those 'iffy' dvds you are trying to copy I suggest you run them through your dvd player software for about 30 seconds and AnyDVD should pick it up (please note you will not notice AnyDVD as it is a driver and runs in the taskbar unless you pull it up to tweak its settings to your personal advantage). Also check here http://bbmayo.home.comcast.net/ for a guide on how the software works. Good luck.

to burn or not to burn that is the question

need help w/ media read this http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/155431

Just checked your guide link. It looks very easy - although I might be tempting fate by saying that :oD

Thanks.
