You could try updating your firmware. However, you need to be a 110% positive you have a legit Matrix Infinity. There are a lot of Matrix Infinity clones out there. If you flash a clone chip with the official MI firmware, it'll get fried. If you're postive you have a legit MI, you can find the latest firmware here: Matrix Firmware: http://www.infinitymod.com/cgi-bin/matrix/site.pl?page=news

Burn it to disc with these instructions:

1. Unzip the firmware.
2. Insert your blank disc.
3. Open Alcohol 120%.
4. Go to File-->Open and browse to the cue file. Double click it.
5. Once it's open under Alcohol 120%, right click the cue file and click image burning wizard.
6. Select your recorder, leave the write method alone, set the write speed to 4x, set the datatype to PS2, and click next.

Yeah it's Legit, i updated to 1.75. It plays the backups that are on Some verbatim disks, but when I try to use the ones that we reccommended (Advanced AZO) they spin up but I get Unable to read disk.. And i get the occasional red screen "Insert Valid PS2 disk...." It will also not play any DVD movies at all..

It plays Orig games no problem.. any ideas?

And is it possible to rip the games to a HDD via USB and boot direct with HDLoader?

Hmm it sounds similar to a problem I had when I first got my MI back from Davbere. At first it would boot backups sparingly, then not at all. I contacted him and was like wtf, and I had to send it back to him. He adjusted some dial or something, and its worked perfectly since then. I was tempted to try and fix it myself. But I knew that would've been disastrous, so I sent it back to him and he had it back to me with a week (I live in FL, he works in CA). It's worked flawlessly since then. That was 3 months ago. You could pick some a 5 pack of some quality DVD-R's like Sony to make sure it's not the media. What speed are you burning your games at? Also the PS2 has been known to have some issues with 16x media.

Try 4x. Are you using DVD+R's or DVD-R's? Either should work with v.5 PS2's and later, in general DVD-R's produce fewer compatibility issues.

another last word :)

V4 and later on the +R and if your burner allows booktyping to -ROM a +R is considered More Compatible then a -R but I've yet to see a -R that didn't work in everything.

That I wasn't aware of. I always advise the use of DVD-R's for that reason. I thought v.4 PS2's were 50/50 with DVD+R's.
