ok...here's the story.
i have a dell pc, sony dvd rw dw-q58a 8x writer.
i cannot burn onto either of these 8x dvd at anything over 2.4x.
i've got the latest firmware version for the burner, and have no idea why it's not burning any faster?

suggetsions?

get rid of your Memsux disk..... they are crappy media. Here is a media guide: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
use only the good stuff, Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Sony..... Maxell (made in Japan) is a top notch media!

next: you didn't provide what software you are using, what movie you might be backing up.... and need more information to give a better answer! If you are using DVD+RW disks..... then it will only record, 2.4x and 4x anyway! Some old RWs can only burn at 2.4x! use a program like DVDInfo Pro (http://www.dvdinfopro.com - to get a free copy of the program) and check out the properties of your drive and your disk! then explain and give more information so members can give you better answers!
