Recently purchased some new DVD-RW media made by Ei System. All 10 recorded fine then when i came to erase and re-record one of them rejects record at 1%. Have tried Nero and Copy to DVD both with same result. Any ideas on anything that can be done to make it usable again apart from throwing it in the bin?
well, I suspect your media is not good, top notch media! I never heard of EI Systems! here is a media guide: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm use Taiyo Yuden (you can buy them online at supermediastore.com, merit.com, rima.com,etc.), Verbatim, Sony.... rule of thumb.. buy disks Made In Japan! They are the best ones! Also.... seems you recorded them all and tried to re-record on one of them and then the problem..... could also be the software not being able to decrypt the new material that is to be recorded..... or something like that. What programs are you using and what disk are you trying to backup?
Also, first, try erasing the disk then re-recording! Nero, CopytoDVD, DVDInfo Pro and other programs can erase the disk first!
Its a good product that i bought here in Spain, have tried erasing with both Copy to DVD and Nero, no deal. As i said this is the only one out of ten and it was ok but for only one burn. Its in the bin.
here is a free program for you: DVDIfo Pro--- get it at:http://www.dvdinfopro.com/ this will also erase a DVD+RW! and give you more information about your drive, and your disk! then you can check up on where your disk is in the media guide that I told you about in my answer above! you are not using the best type of media and I suspect that you will soon run into more problems with your disks soon!
