I have two RHD04, they are basically a R04 with HDD, both hacked, no problems, Liteon makes ilo, Yes the hack works

Can I ask what it is that you want do do?
By the numbers given you are using firmware 1098. None of the 04 units have shown any problems with firmware as some newer Liteon units, as relates to a hack.
Have you gone to this site, You won't find any firmware that will give system problems

PS; The firmware is somewhat different for the RHD04 than the R04 but its the same result.

Just Record My Old Video Tapes so I Don't Have To buy them on DVD.

I would hack the unit. I can see no reason not to, as there is no downside
I think you must have put 1098 on it so you know the drill. I would not try to hack the 1098 on the unit, rather, download a hacked version from the first site I gave and load that to the ilo. If should just load the 1098 again with the changes.
