Can someone point me to a good gude that covers v14 PS2s? I have found a few differences from the v12 guide and I don't want to screw it up on my first go.

I have done many XBOX Xecuter installs so I'm not a total noob, but I'd like some help.

PS2: v14 slim
Chip: DMS4 SE Lite

Thanks.

edit: also, do i need the laser fix for my v14 ps2? and how do i know if the mobo is version GH-0036/40 or GH-0037/41

i don't know where any guides are but I've modded just about every version there is and I've found little more then common sense is needed for disassembly, YMMV. for installation points use the pics from dms3.com

when you get your mobo out so you can see it you'll see the version printed on the board, no mistaking which version you have at that point :)

the laser fix isn't necessarily required on the V14 but if you got one with your chip, it defiantly doesn't hurt to install them, i do laser fixes in every mod i do on a V9 or later as all these models use 12v for laser focusing.

It's just that slim ps2 v14 looks so much more delicate than the big ass xboxes I'm used to working with. My chip is in the mail while I do some more research.

Does the DMS4 factory bios allow playing backups? I'm assuming it doesn't but the ToxicBIOS website seems to be down. Since my chip is the DMS4 SE Lite - I can't use the ToxicOS but just the ToxicBIOS. Also, there is no way to flash the bios without using the memory card? On top of all this, I have read in a few threads that the DMS4 SE chips are causing the ps2 system to require an extra reset button push or even overheating - is any of this true?

All these assumptions may be false - please correct any misunderstandings.

could of swore i seen in another thread you got the Matrix Infinity, not the DMS.........

the DMS4 will come with DMS v0.6 flash which will NOT play backups, to play a backup you are required to flash with a 3rd party flash (Toxic)

you can flash the bios/OS via the memory card, CD, USB, or the HDD your not restricted here.

i don't know where you got that information from but that is completely false, I've modded allot of PS2s and well over 50 with the DMS4 SE chip and I've only had one problem and it was a damaged chip.

Yeah in the other thread I did say I got a MI, but I found out it wasn't a green dot version so I canceled.

Thanks to another member PMing me I got some guides. Now I just have to worry about the inability to flash with a disc on the v14 as seen in this thread. =(

edit: you say I can flash to the USB? with just the DMS Bios? guess these ps2 chips may not be as sophisticated as xecuters

I am having problems getting the top cover of my PS2 open. I have a guide for the v12-13 but is the v14 any different? The right side comes up fine but the bottom left and bottom right seem to be stuck on clips or something and I don't want to break the top left reset PCB trying to force this thing off.

Has anyone done a v14 ps2 disassembly recently that would like to help me out?
