Hi!

Will I be able to use my European, modded PS2 in Canada?

I'm aware that I will need a power converter/transformer. My PS2 is, I think, a version 9. I do not remember which mod chip it is but it is from around July 2004 and I think it allows me to play NTSC games on it - at least I didn't experience any problems with any backed up game.

you will have problems playing your european games on the tvs in canada because we use NTSC here and it's PAL there but, you will be able to play NTSC games with no problem (as long as it's a backup since you need the mod to defeat region protection and so on) also, playing online (ntsc games) will not be possible. There are patchers out there though that allow you to patch games from PAL to NTSC which would partialy solve your problem.

Thanks for the reply. I now have my PS2 over here and I can make a backup NTSC game work (Resident Evil 4) but it only shows in black and white. Do you know what the problem could be? Perhaps I need a different cable?

you could try getting different cables maybe svideo or component but I can't guarantee that it'll work and if it doesn't you can always take the cable back and tell them you didn't like it.
