I just tried downloading free 21 day of CloneDVD2.

Though I like the ease of use and interfaces, the heat generated and processor usage is extreme to say the least. This is similar to using the old 321 products. I can definately see burn failures during warmer months using this software.

Using Shrink with AnyDVD doesn't even come close to heating up my computer like Clone does.

I do not believe I will be purchasing this product any time soon.

Does anyone else have similar experience with ClonedVD?

One would think; if you have heating problems, with a program tens, upon tens thousands other don't, the problem lies with your PC?

Fan and Heatsink, or even just a clean out/lack of ventilation, spring to mind?

I have absolutely no heat problem with any other combination of encoding and burning software. Only Clone.

My fans don't even RPM up when I use shrink, anydvd and DVDD.

In fact I just shrunk and burned 4 titles in the last 4 hrs without any heat issues.

Yesterday, only one title with Clone had my fans humming at max.

This isn't a computer problem at all.

OK I can see where you're coming from; PCs' are more than a bit like people, 'tis a whats been done before!

Mine goes silly with Nero, when I try to use Nero, to record a CD!

But I can copy DVDs and CDs' on the fly, DVDs @8x with Clone CD.

'Tis all about program clashes methinks[?]
I think Nero is a great program; but for me, it can't burn a CD,
So I purchased among its partners Clone CD.

Try that with your DVDs'

Just so everyone knows, I think I found a glitch in CloneDVD and AnyDVD.

If you never close the program, it doesn't know how many days have passed. I downloaded it on Thursday, and have not closed either since, and AnyDVD still says I have 21/21 days left when I look at the Settings/Info for the program.

Not sure if it'll boot me off on day 21, but it's worth a shot if it'll stay free, right ;)

And while I'm here I'll add to the topic:

I've been buring like mad, did 5 in 68 minutes, and the only sound coming from my computer was the drives spinning like mad reading and writing. The fan never came on once, and prior to Clone, I used Shrink, and it was the same way.

You and another person who found this are getting on very thin ice, and could get banned.
See forum Rule #5.
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2487
I dont know if it will work, but suggesting this is called PIRACY here even if its a bug in the program, you violate forum rules by saying so.. Im not a mod, so dont take this as one, im sure a real mod will let you guys know whats up.. I wont report you, just giving out friendly advice..
And you may only think you are defeating the program. Look here to see what i think is really going on.

I could be wrong, and if i am, then that means you are right and wrong at the same time. Right on the theory, and as a result in violation of rule #5.. buh bye...

Again, his AnyDVD will quit working soon since to upgrade the program requires a reboot.

Yes, garmoon you are right. Even if this method worked, it would only work for that version, not an update. And they update quite often. Updates require reboot to take.
