ok,

so i posted in another thread a while ago and didnt get the respomse i was looking for, wondering if anyone can help me

i have 2 xboxes, one modded, and one for live
ok, i have a dsl modem w a built in router connected via a usb cable to my pc. if i wanna play xbl, i plug my crossover cable into the ethernet port of the modem and we are away!

now, for some odd reason, when i plug the same crossover cable into my modded box, then into my ethernet port on my pc....nada! it wont connect!! i cant ftp into my box, i cant ever get the computer to connect to it!

About 2 weekws ago i got a new pc, i COULD ftp with the old one, but couldnt do anything with XBMC

ok.....this is where you guys give me some advice!!

Really appriciate it!

i'm so confused by your stuff, that is specifically your problem. I would suggestion ftp through a router.... it's easier. Your problem with xbmc most likely is a result of your xml config file. What are you using to stream movies or stuff? SMB, Workgroup? you can probably solve all your problems from xbox-scene.com

Did you re-enter all the new IP settings from the new PC's lan connection into your FTP program and Xbox?
If you are using a router then the crossover cable should go from Xbox to router. See here for instructions.
http://www.teammodders.com
go to the xbox tutorial section and see all the FTP tutorials.
One of them has a picture of where each cord should go.
Also see the tutorial on Network Sharing which you may also need to set up.

on my old pc i used to connect to my xbox with a crossover cable from the ethernet port (built into my mobo) into my xbox, i followed the ftp tutorial on this site to get it working, it was about 10 months ago, so i cant really remember what exactly i did, however i do remember it was very simple!

when i plug in my xbox live box into the router/modem, it connects straight away, i never edited anything, i only tried it as part of a trial and error thing...

when i plug my mod box into it, nothing happens...when i plug it into the ethernet port it says not connectedx and has the two computers with a X thru them in the taskbar....ive changed my ip of the ethernet port to 192.168.0.2 and xbox is 192.168.0.1 ( changed it also to .0.3 and nothing happened)

its really driving me mad!!

ok why dont you try my setting with a router
PC
Ip 192.168.1.11
subnet 255.255.255.0
gateway (blank, empty)

Xbox set static mode
Ip192.168.1.111
subnet 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.11

connect pc to port1, xbox to port2. DO NOT use crossover cable.
YOu can use FlashFXP or any other programs to ftp.
done.

Since you only have 1 port router, how do you connect pc and xbox to that router? I suggest just use the crossover cable to connect directly between pc and xbox. NO router involves.

yea. thats what i was trying to do in the first place, but for some reason it wont connect....i thought maybe it had something to do with the modem, however....when i use my xbox live box, it connects to xbox live when i plug it into the modem/router...thats why i thought it had something to do with the modem....

any skin as long as it shows ip
On evox dashboard, it should show Ip 192.168.1.111
If you see "IP: ". Then it indicates cable unplus.

Check the pc LAN too.
