Hi - I use Ritek G03 DVD-R to make DVD's of my Mini-DV movies. I gently write with a fine point Sharpie marker on the top of my DVD-Rs to identify what they are. Can anyone confirm that this will not damage the DVD-R? Has anyone ever heard of this causing problems? Thanks!

Hello I have used Sharpies for years now on CD-R,CD-RW, DVD-R and DVD-RW and have never had a problem. With DVD-R I have noticed if you take a razor blade and cut in to the top surface, they still can be reconized. But if you touch or lightly scrach the burning surface, it shuts down the computer. Why you may ask I am cutting into discs? Because with some programs if you use disc at once and errors out in the burning, the disc is closed and not writable anymore, but if you scratch it and use scan disc to fix disc errors you can re-write on to the disc. This was true for some CD-R media, but I haven't goten it to work for DVD-R. I highly recommend not doing this!!! it is a very tricky artform.
