My drive will only read and write at 2x no matter what software is used.I have dma enabled and Iam using Ty 8x media.The drive is only 2 months old and this problem started about a week ago,before that all was well.What can I do to fix this??I need more speeeed!!!

Don't wanna make dumb suggestions but, it sounds like what mine does without a blank in the drawer ;^)
Offers only 2x - of course with 8x blank (I am using Sony DVD+R) in place, it changes to 4x, 8x or 12x.
You do have a blank in the drawer, right? Maybe you've opened a new batch of blanks that are not being recognised... check your Firmware,
