Your firmware is also very outdated, current version is 2.FA and can be found here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_result.php?kaj=1&isces

Try the firmware update as LOCOENG stated, this should correct the semaphore error. I had this happen with an external and outdated fw, it is a communication error between the drive and the program.

I don't know of an exe file, you just dl the zip and click on it and the exe file will be there, just click on that and it should run. You can dl WinZIP here if yo don't have it, but Windows should be able to unzip..

Did it & flashed new firmware, restarted, & still no luck with Nero.
Could it be media? If so im a bit peeved that this same media will work in my older ugly drive & not my shiny new one.

Glad it is working out for you, as I stated above I had that problem with an external also. I updated the fw and it would burn disks again, only some brands not all. I too finally replaced it with a Lite-on. Sometimes the chipset in externals do not always get along with some computers. Good luck and happy burning.
