Hello,
This is the first time I've attempted to do anything with video... yes, I've lead a sheltered life. ;) I'm running Mac OSX 10.4.4 / G5
Here's my problem. I have a DVD that I have permission to post to the web (a client's product video). To this point, nothing has completely worked and I still have no audio. Here's the what I've done so far:
1) purchased Quicktime Pro and Quicktime MPEG-2
2) tried to use quicktime to open the largest VOB file. a brief part of the begining of the video came in and no audio.
3) I downloaded MacTheRipper and got the VOB file separated into 3 Chapters. Tried a few different methods and created a .m2v file and a .vob file. The m2v file opens as the entire chapter in Quicktime but without audio. Same thing with iMovie using the vob file (video, but no audio). Even tried to extract and unlock the audio in iMovie but it won't play and often crashes after I extract the video. I even added a song from iTunes to check and it played fine so I'm assuming it's getting lost in translation.
4) I downloaded OSEx and maybe I need to restart my machine, but this won't even open for more than a nano second.
I'm assuming this is not rocket science and that I'm missing something very very obvious. I even have an iMovie book but it's not helping.
I have another very long movie to do the same procedure to that will definitely have to be split into chapters. This first one may or may not have to be split up, depending on the final size.
My end product needs to be web ready video for Quicktime and either Real Player or Windows Media.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Please be specific...
Thanks!! Tina
