i have had my pioneer dvr-108 for over a year now. never had any problems with it. i have just noticed that there is a lot of mention of firmware updates. i have been on the website and have seen one for my drive. why do i need to do this and what happens if i go ahead. it says i can't change what i've done.

Your latest firmware is v/ 1.20-B.

It adds 8X writing support for 8X media from TCL Corp. and New Star Digital Co. (Media IDs INFODISC R20 and IMC JPN R01) and includes all previous updates.
Check with Nero Info Tool to see which FW you have now,
