Hi there,
I am new to this apologies if I am writing something dumb.

I have modded (or so I thought) a v10 with infinity matrix green dot.
Everything seemed to be alright, but after the matrix logo at bootup I had no sign of life from the dvd drive (tray won't open, disc won't spin) and I always got the same message (no data or something like that)

I have also replaced the la6508 and have checked the fuses a few times and they all give readings below 1 ohm.

I have tried to disconnect the flat cable connectors of the drive and got nowhere other than realizing that the small one (the one with four wires) seems not to deliver any supply voltage to the drive. There are 20 ohm of resistance I can measure between pins 1 and 2, 3 and 4 (the two pairs I mean).

Is there a way I can check if the mainboard is delivering good voltage to the drive)? what sort of voltages should I read on the pins (naively I thought 12V somewhere, but I have never been able to find them...)?

Is there a place on the mainboard I can have a look at to see if the supply voltages are being generated alright?

cheers everybody

infinity matrix chip is known for its problems. I always have used swap magic and will never switch. Why it screwed up I really don't know. Just wnted to give you some advice.

I will have to correct you on that one, Matrix Infinity is the best chip on the market, I have never encounteed problems with them in over 150+ installs, chip is not your problem, if disc is still not spinning something still is going on with the LA chip, is it an original.

Ive installed and sold alot and no problems at all. I must be lucky, but from time to time you hear of a few reports of them not working, but most are install problems not the chip, bu you do have some defective, just not like the DMS and Crystal.Quite more than it should be.

thanks everybody for the advice. I also bought swap magic and I have tried to put it on a satin silver 75004 (I bought it one week ago), and got nowhere. I am very very new to this but I never thought things would go so wrong.... The third bit of metal doesn't stay in its place and for some reason discs won't get recognized. Can anyone help on this one?

Anyway, I got a bit further on the v10 issue. I had put in the Romeo fix (giving 5.1V instead of 12V to the LA6508) and actually I measured on the board something like 4.5V. The LA6508 is original, and I think it has been soldered well on the board.

My question was simply if there are some pins I have to check in order to see if the DVD drive (the motor, not the laser!) is being powered correctly.

Thanks everybody
