Will anyone comfirm these are a good brand because I dont want to change from verbalim when I know they work to ritek if they will cock up especially if am burning dvds to playback on my dvd player.
I've done research before I came here and Ive found out that the ritek's G04's have had a few problems but are the g05s good? Also the price difference is so much affordable without splashing the cash on verbalim.
50 dvd-r 8x riteks g05's grade a for £11.99
I just bought a 100 verbalim 16x dvd-r for £40 its a big price increase.

I've used the G05 printables. My batch deteriorated after a couple of months. Stick with TY and Verbatim printables... MAXELL "Made in Japan" would be my next choice.

keen3h hi :)
the problem seems to ly with the full hub printables with G05.
i have had no problems at all with the nonprintable G04/G05s that i use.
as to the price difference, all 16x media is more expensive than 8x media

My initial scans were really good, but after 6-9 months they went to cr@p! They litterally zero'd out in the first 1% of scanning. Real pretty red lines.

Unfortunately I too can say my printable ritek's GO5 went south on me. They always burned fine just playback problems and what looked like a bad dye application that become apparent after they were burned. Hit or miss on the problems. That's been more than a year but it's all I needed to switch to Taiyo and have never looked back!
@keen3h & sugarray
I would make sure your drives firmware is up to date and I would not burn these at max speed.
Just my 2 cents

i'm the one who lost the 400 dvds in the link above. trust me, you do NOT want to switch to ritek printable G05s. I can't speak to the quality of silver G05s, and i've actually had success with the G04s i've used, but honestly i wouldn't use anything but ty and verbatim from now on. it's funny, the amount of time i spent on these forums and i never came to the media forum until it was too late! don't go by the reviews at supermediastore or other media sellers. they will bump positive reviews to the top so that anything less than thoroughly searching through all the reviews will show only positive reviews. i posted a warning about the G05s and it was immediately buried.

I can verify the shiny G05 aren't much better. I had some that burnt beautifully originally. Than ran a scan on them after seeing your post, and it red lined right off the bat.
