I have a copy of a movie(dvd) which was split into two seperate files. I have DVD 1 which contains video_ts folder with appropriate vob files. Then I have DVD 2 folder which contains another video_ts folder in which the second part of the movie is. How can I combine the two folders to make ONE movie? I can not convert to avi then combine as the movie is DVD ripped and contains the subtitles I need to view the movie.
Hope I was clear about this and I hope someone can help.

Nevermind. I figured it out using Nero recode 2. I am burning the project now and hopefully it will work. If not I will be back. If anyone else needs help with this let me know and I will post instructions.
Thanks

well if they way you try it dosnt work theres always Nero->make a movie Nero6 lol sad idk what version i have lol but any ways if your version has the make your own movie thing go the drag the files in bad part itll take 2 hrs to burn.

but if you go to Nero Burning rom and select dvd video then click the red folder if its not opend yet but it should be then try draging them all inthere might work i never tryed 2 sepret VOB if there the sam as vob_1 - vob_5 or some thing you can try just rename them Vob_6 - ?? like i said idk if itll work should i dont see y not tho.

not a bad idea xredx but that wouldnt work, the .ifo and .bup files are the heart of the dvd ...they contain a bunch of command that tell the dvd player where in the .VOB files to get what should be displayed now video_ts.ifo is whats read intially and you can only have one of these and whichever one youd leave unchanged would have only links to its own .VOB files. if you renamed one of its .vobs the dvd would play.

these .ifo files are editable via a tool like IFOEdit ...ive never used it before but ive seen lots of questions about it so i think theres a learnig curve involved.

im pretty certain Nero recode will work out for you. the easiest way (in the future) to take care of this little problem is to join the movie files b4 you encode it for a dvd ...the easiest tool for this is a program called virtualdudMod:
http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=VirtualdubMOD

also i dunno what you used to make the dvd but if you look around in the options most allow for multiple files to be used as one movie

ok. What I did was I used Nero recode 2 to and set it to "remake a dvd"
then I import the two seperate folders into one and burned the project straight to DVD. It worked very well and maintained the subs and 5.1. The only draw back was I lost the menu screen. But that can easily be fixed if I was to burn it to HDD then "make a dvd" and add a menu. But it doesnt matter if it has no menu or at least to me it didn't.

nomad311 - I am not sure vitualdub would have worked because the movie was already enocoded as a dvd movie but was then broken down into 2 seperate files to transfer via internet easily. but i will try it next time. thanks for the help.

you right it wouldnt with the .VOB files (at least i dun think it would) but i was sayin that it would be easiest (if possible) to join the avi's with vdub b4 you burn it. but after re-reading your post i see that doesnt apply

but to anyone else interested here are some guides on this very thing:
