I just have a crystal chip 1.1 modded for my v14 ps2 (slim version,75001a).
How do I set it up such that I can play some game online?
Is the original game a must to play or backup one is fine?
Thanks!

Yes you will need to flash the chip with the hacked firmware/bootmanager in order for it to load backups. It'll auto patch your backup games DNA ID's, allowing you to play your backups online. Download the hacked firmware (which also contains CC Boot Manager) and burn it to disc.

Latest hacked firmware, v.19: http://www.forumconsolas.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1213

Burn the Firmware to CD-R with these instructions:
1. Unzip the firmware.
2. Insert your blank disc.
3. Open Alcohol 120%.
4. Go to File-->Open and browse to the cue file. Double click it.
5. Once it's open under Alcohol 120%, right click the cue file and click image burning wizard.
6. Select your recorder, leave the write method alone, set the write speed to 4x, set the datatype to PS2, and click next.

Thank you for your reply!
I already installed the firmware into my memory card. So you were saying, I can use backup games to play online games without any restriction? I am a big fan of winning eleven 9 :)
Will it cause any problem if I set up the network connection for my modded ps2?

No it shouldn't. The DNA's patching keeps the online server check from realizing you're playing a backup. The only games that are unplayable online are Socom 2 and 3, because the Server scans the BCA area of the game for copyright info. Normal burners can't write to the BCA area, so there's no a way a copy will contain the copyright info.

Thanks!
So when I set up the network connection without any game disc inside, the mod chip (CC 1.1) will not cause any problem, right?
