Hi, and Gooday from down here in New Zealand...
I am using DVD Shrink and Nero as a default burning program to copy DVDs ..however most of them all seem to have all sorts of annoying errors ...like freezing and making the screen turn blue at times but mostly freezing and then going again..
I have a program called DVD info that finds CRC Errors in many of my burns also...
Can someone perhaps tell me what I may be doing wrong??
I run a P4 PC, with 1 Gig of Ram and use a Samsung H552U DVD Writer,
My Problems only occur when I use DVDShrink on Encrypted DVDs ..
TX in Advance ,and Kia Ora from New Zealand(New Zealand Is Two Islands twelve hundred miles south east of Australia)

Ok rip the movie to your HD, run the files through VOB Blanker, and then try DVD Shrink. This has always worked for me with encrypted DVD's gets rid of all the copy protection.

(Great guide)

@dannykiwi

DVD Shrink is not being updated anymore, thus it cannot succesfully decrypt the newer movies. You have to use a ripper/decrypter that is being updated to keep up with the newer encryptions, and one of them is DVDFab Decrypter. If you follow thw guide poste by XxRUINSxX, you should be able to virtually backup any DVD. Also very important is to use quality media for your burns and not burn at higher than x4 or x8(with top notch quality media like Verbatim or Tayio Yuden)).What do you use? Also, is your burner firmware up to date?
And thanx for the geografy lesson:~)!(not that I needed it)! Beautiful islands, hope to get there pretty soon!

Ok I think that may be the problem, as it used to work just fine(DVD Shrink). I also have DVD Decrypter and Clone DVD that do the same job, however its more "Messy" than using Shrink as it,s like a proverbial "One Stop Shop"
I have been useing Princo DVD-R,s which are budget DVDs, so will try another Quality Brand instead..
The main problem I get is, the DVD just freezes, and after hitting go a number of times gets going again, but its dam annoying..
When I run it through DVDinfo ..it shows CRC Errors sometimes as many as 30 -40..
Thanks for all the Tips Guys..I put that lil Geographical Info in for all the Folk that think New Zealand is almost next to Australia,in fact we are farther away from Australia than the U.K is from Russia so there!!!hahahahahahahaha..
Kia Ora and Best wishes from Kiwi Land..

Myself I actually enjoy Kiwi very much, and i wish to be somwhere in a kiwi land, as I am at below freezing temperature right now!
I don't know about New Zeland, but quality discs don't have to be expansive. There are always sales going on.
Cheers.

I just tried to back up Band of Brothers Disk 1 and got the O' famous CRC message. I used Shrink, Clonedvd2 and Fab. None would read it. Fab read it to 49% and then just sits there.Any other thoughts?

Try DVD Decrypter - nothing special on Band of Brothers -so you probably have a dirty/scratched or bad press. IMO it's the best for these type of problems. If you have another drive try it - some drives are better than others ripping discs w/ glitches.
Here's a link if you need it:

Try to rip in file mode 1st - if that doesn't work try ripping in iso mode.
You can always click this setting in decrypter - go to tools>settings>i/o tab - ignore read errors.

Download AnyDVD 5911 and run it in the background and copy it with DVD Shrink.

Dang! Read error - bad spot on the disc. Have your tried iso mode yet - it may work - it has for me when file mode failed.
If this doesn't work it looks like the only option will be to exchange the set for new ones.
