Are the UMD's in good condition? no deep scratches? Are the movies from a different region? If you answer no to the two questions, and you tried every UMD with your son's psp, then I'm gonna have to say the laser is broken. The lasers sell for about 50 bucks on ebay (maybe less). Or you can send it back to sony if it still under the warranty.

this is simple to fix, all you gotta do is fone up sony, and ask tell them this, they will come in the next 2days. with a brand new psp, all you do is give them your old system , and they give you a brand new system, for free, you don't need a recipt or anything like that.

i doubt that would work
when the hell does a company "come" to you, they would just ask you to send it to them. its not as if there is a designated psp call out team
and you most likely would need a reciept as the warranty only lasts for a year after purchase. they would want to check that. if you wanted it for free that is
try cleaning the lens with a cotton wool bud and a bit of "alcohol" aftershave - you can just see it
also look to see if anything is blockking the spinner
also stick your finger in and see if the disk spinner, spins cleanly

Ya deal of the century. Mint v1.5 psp, all accessories mint, and mint box, and nfs: rivals, and ape escape 2 all for 127.00+10.00 for 2-3 day ship. Said it didn;t read umd it didnt looked down it removed a screw stuck on magent. Still didnt work. The took it apart moved the laser over saw another screw took it out. PSP works perfect 100% brand new.
In fact I think we would be fooling our selves if we have a community this large, and did not realize that there are some enemies present.

Those questions have been answered a zillion times. I can't look at one page without someone asking those questions. Here is the basic answers, yea you can go online with 1.5. But you need the wipeout browser. Just google that and I'm sure there is a tutorial that will show you what to do. And the second question can be answered from the psp manual, and your last question has a simple solution - if you really want that game, go buy it.
