which dvds work in cyberhome 1200?

I've had a lot of trouble with my dvr-1200. It writes to dvd+rw with no problem at all. but if I use memorex dvd+r half of them crash when I try to finalize the disk. I also tried maxell dvd+r and they all finalize ok but half of them crash while formatting. so far the only disk I've been able to use with any certainty is the maxell dvd+rw but their 3 times the price of the +r so I would really like to know what works well. are there some discs that work better then these two? and has anyone else experianced problems with the memorex and maxell dvd+r discs or is it my machine?
