Hi everyone,

What a great forum! Learned a lot just reading here, bu didn't notice this issue so here goes. I take avi files in Nero Vision 4 and convert them. Can't do high quality because then I only fit one ep of the TV show on a disk, so I've tried both automatic and standard. ALso tried choosing PA (I'm in Australia) and NTSC (most of the avis tend to come from NTSC countries, LOL). My DVD plays NTSC so this is no problem.

However the files always get out of sync. About 5-10 minutes into the first episode, the video and audio get out of sync, It happens every time. And Nero seems to split the avi's into two VOB files, why? WinAVIConverter never did this. Mind you I always got skipping video with WinAVI which is why I thought I'd try Nero.

Any tips on what might be happening here?

thanks in advance

Mabb

Dear Mabb,

You may try convert the AVI to dvd compliant format with VSO DivXtoDVD (free version), then burn with e.g. Nero Recode:

Good luck!

Hi scf_au, thanks for that tip, I would try that option if I were converting movies, but I'm doing TV eps so I really need something that allows you to create a menu.

The commercial version of VSO has the ability to create menus. Maybe you can try that. In all, VSO is a much better encoder than Nero.

OK excellent! Will give the commercial version a go. I tried WinAVI the other day and it seems to convert nicely too, but again, no menus :-(

VSO have released a new prog named ConvertX, also free trials available and much improved. It can be obtained at VSO site and is definately worth a try.
