Right, i don't know if this is in the right area or not, so cut me some slack :)

Ok, basically, i want to know how to rip a dvd onto my pc and then be able to watch it in something like WMP in good quality. Presumably it would have to be encoded into AVI or WMA or something similar, and it would be best if free software was used. I've got dvd decrypter and dvd shrink. So far (don't know if i can go from here) i have ripped an episode of Band Of Brothers to my HD in those Video and Audio TS folders. How do i change these into a good quality video file? Thanks for the help.

you can just watch your riped dvd on your computer just mount the iso shrink made in daemon tools
or if you want to compress in to a smaller size
rip in ifo mode with DVD Decrypter select stream processing make sure both audio and video is ticked
goto tools option set file spliting to none in the ifo tab and rip your dvd
that will create a single VOB file in the video ts folder load that VOB into virtualdubmod and save as AVI and select your compresson type I would suggest XviD or divx
all these tools are free
