how bad is static to the ps2?

i'm guessing it's a bad idea to keep it on the top of your tv?

I keep my Slim PS2 on top of my TV, done it no harm so far...

The only time it might do it harm is if you pull too far on the controller and the PS2 comes-a-crashing to the ground.

Actually, that's done it no harm so far either...guess I must be lucky!

I dont think heat from the tv will be a big issue, coz when the ps2 gets too hot the ps2 fan speeds up, but the magnetic field can sometimes have some interference, the only thing you should really avoid is putting your mobile next to your ps2, lol, it can cause malfunctions in a couple of seconds, i put my mobile next to my monitor once, and that monitor's relay got messed up.

One more thing, in the PS2 manual it clearly states dont put the PS2 next to anything with a high magnetic field, that includes speakers.

Yes, a tv has a reasonably high magnetic field, but it shouldnt really affect your ps2, my ps2 has never been close to my tv, so i cant really tell you if it will effect it, but at the moment im using a tv unit box, that allows you to watch tv on your monitor and allows you to connect consoles, and over various things you cant connect to your monitor, so i currently play on that, my ps2 is around 10cm aways for my monitor.
