Just bought a psp w/ v1.5 from a local retailer (new in box, matching serials etc. etc) it was the 'bundlepack w/ spiderman2 umd' i notice the background on the HOME menu is yellow? the unit was never opened or anything until i got it home, i'm also wondering what other options i have w/ the unit for say homebrew or emulators or iso or anything of that matter which won't void the warrenty as of yet (will probably be purchasing a 2nd psp in a month)

but right now biggest question -> How do i change that nasty yellow home menu screen to blue or green or whatever.

U can change it by goin to theme settings and pick from a range of colours. Also check out the stickies for guides on homebrew for your version

Brand new initial release psp? Damn, its almost been a year. For homebrew options, I don't even know where to start. There's a lot of good stuff out there. If you played Doom when you were young then I would suggest checking this out, PieceFull gave me the link, http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/doompsp.shtml . There's also a pretty good nintendo emulator called NesterJ. Just look around and you'll be bound to find good homebrew everywhere, so just take a scroll through the forum pages.

no you cant if you have a 1.5. but a 2.0 will do the same. there was a kind of program that you could do this but i forgot. but you could upgrade, put a pic that you want as a background, put it as the background, then downgrade back to 1.5. don't upgrade past 2.0. unless you don't want iso's and stuff like that.

On a 1.5 ull need a 3rd party prpgram,
http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/78
heres a link 4 pspset it can change ur background.
Your lucky you got 1.5, so all the options are available to you,
get Fastloader or UMD emulator(iso loaders) you can find it all on that site,
As for homebrew i like this site
http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/

version 1.5 psps dont run AVC format movies, if your encoding in AVC format thats your problem, choose SP or otherwise upgrade to 2.0, and downgrade later.
Yeah try the pixel cleaner if your pixels are stuck and not dead
If pixel cleaner dont work, Ive read that this works:
1. Take note of where your stuck pixel is, put your finger on it
2. Turn off psp, and now press finger down not too hard but firmly
3. Turn it on, now as the system loads up relese your finger.
Its worked for some ppl (note u should see your screen smudge for just a second.)

No loader needed the program comes with 2 folders
PSPSET & PSPSET% copy those into you PSP\GAME folder in your psp.
Youll need a wallpaper first tho,
Just download some from www.psp-hacks.com after you get used to it u can make your own.
Now youll have to rename that pic to the current month eg. February = 2 thus 2.bmp
Place that in the root of your memory stick ie X:\2.bmp
Now run the PSPset program and itll do it for you.
Video9
Go to setup, in the settings tab youll see the option
"one click profile" change it to SP i like this one
SP/320X240/29.97fps/1500kbps/128kbps now dont close the screen yet down the bottom in the right hand corner click save, if its not there change your resolution.
Now go to convert tab, click One click transcode and select your file.
Quicktime is not required.

Bricking only happens when u play about with the firmware, if or when u do follow the guides to the full.

I was hoping that higher settings meant better quality but i havent watched nething on psp for a while, Good job with conan long live Krom. When you say fullscreen do you mean 480X272?
Ive been trying to get the pmp player and pmp muxer working, you heard about this? apparently i can watch avi at full resolution.

Smurff : If you get programs from well known sites pspupdates,psp-hacks etc should be ok as they give sufficient warnings when flash is being written over, Most homebrew out may cause psp crashes once in a while but turns right back on A ok. However the downgraders and other progs that write to flash is what you should be aware of but they are no problem if you do your reading.

am trying to use UMD Emulator v.8c and it keeps crashing my psp?

trying to load Fired Up Browser.iso and using NFS:Rivals as the umd?

EDIT: - nevermind, i forgot to move the folder UMDEMULATOR to the root directory.

"I:\UMDEMULATOR" I being removable Drive.

i do have more questions though -

1. How to tell the difference in dead and stuck pixels?
2. How to organize the corrupted files to the bottom of the list when viewing GAME/MS from the psp.
3. Do the SNES Roms have to be specifically written for the psp or can previous roms i have from years past be used?
