I get this error when I try and back a disk up.....not doing anything sophisticated such as cutting film length or compressing. Straight 100% backup of the film section of a DVD.
Never had problems in the past.
Full error message as follows:
DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue
Failed to read file "D:\"
Date error (cyclic redundancy check).
I'm backing up from D: to E: all disks in place. No problems reading disk in D: using WinDVD 4.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks

Could be a few things, first thing that comes to my mind is awlays copy protection, but if the disc is in really bad shape you can get this error. Make sure it's not too scratched up, or has any smudges, but I'm thinking your problem has to do more with copy protection, so just run the files throuigh VOB Blanker...

Thanks for the speedy response.....The disc is in good conditiona and I've also experienced this with Madagascar so perhaps you're right on the protection front. Just tried with another (Flightplan)......getting the same problem.
If I'm hearing you right, it's not likely to be a DVD Shrink error...more of a problem with new protection improvements.....
Thanks

Well definately if it's a newer movie then it's ususally copy protection I see you tried Flightplan, and Madagascar too. For both of those I used VOB Blanker, then ran it through DVD Shrink , both of them worked perfectly...hope you can get your back-up payce...

Yes Vob Blanker, DVDFab Decrypter, and DVD Shrink are all freeware...and they are the tools you will need to get passed the copy protection...

I to back up Band Of Brothers Disk 1 and I got the messege.I looked at it real close and notice a huge "Pit" on it.You can run your fingers over it and feel it. I tried all of these suggestions and never got further then 64% read before the CRC error. I'm just gonna not worry about at this point in time.
