Can I use Action Replay cheats online

Every time i go to use my cheats in either a LAN or Internet connection, my console freezes up. what's the deal?
i am trying this with backups and originals. same problem with both. i am managing to get most of my backups to boot with cheats by removing the memory card after AR Max saves the settings, but before swapmagic boots, then reinserting the memory card after the backup boots, usually work except with a few games(ie. call of duty 2) but i can't seem to go online with these codes. is there a way around this?

Action Replay is designed not to cheat for online game's, if your a good hexer or configurer, you could probally get it to not shut down when you go online
