I just started to play some of the dvds I've burned, and some of them say they are not formatted to play. I'm sure it has to be that I selected a different country region when it asked where I was because before when I selected U.S. it wouldn't back-up. Is this a case where I have to use a different softwar, like DVD Fab, to back it up? thanks

Welcome to AD KayGee,we'll be needing some more info:

Were these original movie backups? Like region 1 to start with?

Or were they originally AVI files/m-peg/etc,transfered to iso?

What programs you use for that backup? DVD Shrink will make your backups region free.

What drive is saying region code error? Stand alone player or a pc drive?

What is the brand name of media/speed rate/and format?

What is the brand name and model# of your burner?

Some stand alones will give a wrong region error when they are not compatable to a certain format that you are using. If that's the case,try switching to the opposite format and give it a go.

I'm backing up the original dvd using DVD Shrink. It's not really an error code, but on my standalone dvd player the 20th century fox logo comes up and it says that this disc is not formatted for this region. I have a hp dvd740e. How do I switch switch to an opposite format? thanks

I think you problem may be PAL vs. NTSC but what region are this dvd's from? And are you in region 1 (us)?

I'm in the U.s. as are all the DVD's I've been burning. Do you guys sometimes get the pop-up that says in order to remove the DCE(i think) protection you must correctly select the region you're in? I would sometimes select other regions because at least one time before when I selected the U.S. it wouldn't back-up.

@KayGee
If the disc has RCE on it shrink will give you this pop up. You need to pick the right region - region 1 then shrink will make it region free.
I think by picking the wrong one that's why you are getting the format error on you player.
The one time it won't back up by picking the correct region may have been a different problem.
So you'll need to re back these and pick the right region.
