I recently purchased a copy of the unrated version of the new movie Doom starring the Rock. Like with most of my movies, I would like to make a backup so that I can preserve the original from becoming damaged.

I have a copy of the lastest version of DVDshring, and also own a copy of the latest AnyDVD by Slysoft, which I normally use to get around copy protections. However, this movie has me completely frustrated.

Every single time I try to use DVDshrink by itself or with AnyDVD running, it gets about half way through the process of examining the disc and then fails with an error saying something like cyclic redundancy error. Has anyone else had problems backing up this movie? Is there any known way to get around this?

I'd appreciate any assistance anyone can offer with this. This is the first movie that I've had absolutly no luck in backing up when using shrink in combination with AnyDVD, and yes I tried it with just shrink by itself and it still will not backup.

Try DVDFab Decrypter (do not run AnyDVD when using this program)

http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

Run those files through VobBlanker

http://www.videohelp.com/~jsoto/temp/VobBlanker_2110b1_exe.zip

Then run the blanked files through Shrink or Recode.

I don't have AnyDVD, but have yet to find a movie that this method will not back-up (although I must admit that I have not yet tried Doom)

Yeah, try the method that ebega mentioned. That works. If it doesn't work for you, then chances are you have a bad press and you'll have to try to get another original.

What he said!!

Because I backed this movie up with no problems! I used VOBBlanker (just as a precautionary measure), then Shrink to compress and then Decryptor to burn. No problems!

Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie

I know that I am still new, but I used DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, then Nero to burn and had zero problems. I have a friend that just used DVD Srink and burned it without problems. So I think it depends on the quality of the original and the quality of the media that you get.

You have to back this up with the main movie only, the disc contains an Xbox demo of the game that will spit out errors.

Wouldn't a decrypter like DVDD or Fab extract only the files from the Video TS folder? I know I have done a full backed-up (not movie only) of other movies with various Rom support and it was never an issue. When I decrypted in file mode, those Rom files are not on the back-up, but I never needed them to begin with.

Not sure, I think I read in another thread that the problem was with the Demo...but I can't really remember. I backed it up with DVDD, DVD Shrink (movie only)...AnyDVD running in the background.
