My take on this banning crap, is that the mods should have 4-buttoms to ban..
Warning would be first..as to give the guy time to straighten out,
and the warning would auto be placed under the persons screen name.
1-warning,which would be under ye name for 10 days..
2-a 15 day ban.
3-a 30 day ban
4-a total ban
And a name should be auto placed under ye name say banned for 15 or 30days with the start date..and ending date..
And when it reaches the end date ye are auto reinstated.
And a total ban it should say inactive.
the mods with the 4-buttons will pick which one is chosen to use.
it would not be a 3-strike deal...it would depend on what the guy did.
and the mods should be given guidelines to follow from the admin.
also there should be a head mod with a little bit more powers to reinstate a ban person..and to be able to ban a mod if need be.

I think that is a great idea...there should be some level or levels of status between active/inactive

hi i think it is a good idea, as from time to time everyone makes mistakes and should be given the chance to correct their mistakes. however some people who just abuse the forum boards & other afterdawn members do need to be banned so it is a good idea for a mod to decide which ban to implement.

Sounds like a good idea, but does anyone have any idea how many people are banned per week for instance?
Maybe the Chief Mod might consider the suggestion, as long as the Mods have an over-riding power to ban after a single post due to it's racist/sexist/abusive content etc.
She's going down to the devil, down down to 90 degrees.

methinx this to be a great idea. it would be nice to have something for a mod between "don't do this" and "banned your ass, yo," to show that they're serious.

Personally i think this is a very good idea, not only do people get a more than a fair chance but this can/would stop those who we have seen in the past creating new accounts just to blast mods because they got banned, at lest they would get a chance to cool off and hopefully learn from there mistake(s). Only people that i think should still get a straight ban are spammers.

It is a great idea ireland. The only downside though, is think that these people will just make a new account rather than wait for re-activation

wouldnt it just make people more susseptible to ridicule for having it under there name, while they are absent for the banning period.
it needs to be debated more before a settlement is reached but i see there seems to be a lot of yes men present. Its a good idea in principle but with every good idea there is always the negative side....
