Does anyone have any experience creating region free discs? I heard Nero recode can create a disc that becomes region free. Heard the same thing for ANYDVD. i tried with ANYDVD and cannot get any of my 3 DVD players to play these discs. Does it really work?

depends is you dvd player DVD-R or dvd -rw compatible

also does the front of your dvd player say it is cd-r compatible if it doesn't your dvd player doesn't support DVD-R because if the dvd rom drive cannot read cd-r it will not read dvd -r

and you can make any dvd region free but you need a incoding program like DVD Decrypter to decrypt the dvd into the correct region

Than you for your response

My DVD players do not have CD-R on the front of any of them. However they do play DVD-R discs because I have quite a few of them and they have all played fine. the only problems I have are when I try region free discs. The (region free) copies work well in a multi region DVD player but when I put them in my regular DVD players it states "cannot play due to area limitations".
Any other thoughts on this?

yes use a DVD Decrypter program when it asks you what region do you want the dvd in select NTSC usa or whatever your region is and decode it to your hard drive in this region then reincode the dvd onto a dvd -r making the region perminit

Appreciate the feed back. I was wondering if I could ask another questiom. (2 actually).
What is a good program to reencode the file on to a disc?
Second question-I have AnyDVD on my computer which removes region codes when I copy my disc for backup using CLONEDVD2. Do I have to copy to my hard drive first? It appears from what you are saying that removing the region code is not enough. Which makes sense but takes me back to my first question. Any ideas please?

Hope someone can help me with this related question.
I want to send DVD home movies produced with Nero to Japan, NTSC region 2. After creating the disc with Nero Vision Express 6 and burning with Nero do I need to make it region free using DVD Decrypter before burning with Nero Burning Rom?
Thanks for your help.
