Need help starting my business(transfer vhs to dvd)

I'm trying to start up a business here(transferring vhs to dvd, etc.). I like to know how to go by starting this business from my home? Moreover, I don't have the money to start, and I've heard alot of successful stories about businessmen out there only had $10, or less and now their mulit-millionaires.
Does anyone have any connections, or info on the type of business that I'm trying to succeed in? What is the right software(s) to transfer vhs to dvd? Is there anything else I need to know about transferring? Every info helps.

Ok this is a very complex field just straight capture from vhs to your computer is very basic a good quality capture device that can capture to mpeg2 is really what you need a good proffesional editing sweet which can run into the thousands and as big and powerfull computer as you can possibly afford that really needs to be were you start
but it is possible to start at a more basic level capturing in AVI and converting using free tools such as VirtualDub and DivXtoDVD there is a free version here

but be warned the conversion process from AVI to mpeg will be lengthy and if profit is what you are after not very economical

Okay, what is a video stabilizer? Furthermore, I'M doing this on my Dell labtop(latitude D600), and I was wondering can I still transfer my vcr movies to computer? I tried it, and didn't work. I have a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-108 external, its also a capture device.
-What I did I'd download the link that philraz provided for me. -Hooked up the Pioneer DVD-RW(USB) to my labtop.
-My vcr (AV cables) to the Pioneer DVD drive, and still nothing happened.
Can somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong?

whar sort of capture device did it come with any software
A video stabilizer is a device rhat removes protection from comercial vhs movies
virtual dub is the software that has AVI capture ability

Well, stupid me. I've lost the software, or misplaced it somewhere. So, what shall I do? The Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-108 is the capture device. It has the audio and video hook-ups in the back of the external hardware, but then again I've lost the software to it.
Will this Virtual Dub do the trick?

I need the model and brand of the enclosure that is the actual capture device not the burner
have a good look for that disk that came with the unit it will probably contain a driver for the capture device and capture software

Dam I tried to start a service but I haven't got anyone to get a VHS to a DVD yet.They just call and ask for a price and that's it.Maybe they have porn tapes that are wearing out and are to embarrased to get them tranfered or something, I wish I knew why.But there are alot of tranfer companys out there that have been doing this stuff for years and some small timers getting into the field.Call them up ask them what their prices are.Run an ad in the paper or create a website.VHS tranfers take some time so you better have afew people help you if you get swamped.I'll have to place another ad again later and see.I'm just sitting on the fence right now with it until more tapes are out of print.
Is it crap or is it memorex?

By the way, philraz. I don't know the model # of the capture device. I've tried to find it online, but no luck. All I know is it's a External Poineer DVR-108 but, I do know this, if this could help a little. I remembered it's was made by a different company that start with the letter V something...

high,a video stabilizer removes the macrovision that are on vhs tapes to allow u to backup your vhs movies to dvd.

download everest trial its software that can help to id makers and id your hardware check the usb section when you run it see what it comes up with
did you install the software when you installed the drive ?
check your device manager win may have the device listed there
