ok guys , i know this is a newbie problem but not as easy as it looks. i know how to change my homepage in IE in tools > internet options. but i tried to change it for like 10 times but i still get the dell home page (p.s i brought this computer from dell) i even tried the blank page.
oh and out of curiousity, is wireless internet connection slower than directly connected to the modem/router? cause the internet speed seems to be slower in my wireless connection computer compare to my other directly connected to the modem/router.
please help

Are you saving and applying the changes to your homepage? If yes there maybe some dell software that is causing you to always go there? Is it an updates page or something of the like?
Yes connecting directly to your modem or router is faster than wireless (in most cases)

I'm not sure I'll be able to help. Maybe you should run a program that will check for browser hi-jackers.

Well, upon looking at the program ~RoNin~ suggested, I found something on my computer, but couldn't remove it because it needed activation. I was able to find it with Ad-Aware and remove it though, but at least it told me.
I would recommend Spybot Search and Destroy and Ad-Aware to find and remove spyware. You should also go and get SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard for some preventive actions.
You can use SpywareBlaster to change the homepage, and use SpywareGuard to show if something is planning on changing it.

sorry for the very late reply... anyway, nothing seems to work though, but it cleared a lot for useless things for me. i scanned my computer with AD-aware, spybot search and destroy and something else... i guess i have to live with it.... it's not a major threat is it?

If you go onto Google, it will give you the option of making Google your home page, give that a whirl, it may just work...
