okay, so I am a newb and this is my first post, so bear with me. i have decided to go with the dvdfab/dvdd/dvdshrink combination, but i cant even get passed first base in my setup. i downloaded the aspi4.7.1a2, and followed the installation instructions, but when the command prompt comes up and i try to enter x32, the dialog box closes. after it happened the first time i went back in to look and it says hit any key to continue. am i opening the wrong file?

Gamename nailed that one. To date I've not seen ASPI fix one problem with XP issues. Nero has it's own, so XP doesn't need it there. Also, I've yet to see ASPI needed for any of the common recording apps. So, ditch the ASPI and get on with the rest of the installation. Hopefully you won't get into any problems with those. One of the reasons most people encounter problems trying to load ASPI on XP is because they're not supposed to. ;)

Yep, no system aspi is better than a corrupt one. Most programs supply what is needed where a system aspi was needed before.
One program called killaspi.bat removes the aspi. Many ppl mess up by not removing the corrupt one, and instead installing a new aspi over the old one. Problems in burning usually happen. Remove the aspi, and everything works fine for most ppl.
Just agreeing here.. :)

LOL Get a high quality encoder that takes longer (RB/CCE). That way you can tweak the girl while you wait on the machine, instead of the other way around. ;) Plus you get the highest quality with both. LOL
