dvd burner not being read

my dvd (memorex dvd dual layer) burner is not being read on my computer. i try restarting my computer puting in the cable into different slots. i try turning it on and off. i never used to have this problem. but now i am and i dont know why. help woul be very helpful, so thanks in advance.

do you have anything else plugged into the wireing harness if you do, and that doesnt work either. you most likey new to get a new one(wireing harness).if you have something else like another hard drive or cd burnner thats working ,theres something wrong with the drive

do you have a dvd or cd in the drive on startup this usaually causes the dvd burner not to respond and causes the dvd drive to malfunction

remove all disks try going into cmos and reset the cmos to default settings and restart the computer after saving the settings if this doesn't work your dvd is screwed sorry

i have a cd burner in another drive. sometimes the drive works but sometimes it doesnt. and so what can i do? and if theres something to do with going into the bios or anythingelse like that please explain in details cuz i might not know how to do it. thanks

if your cd drive is experiancing the same problems i would look at getting a new pc it sounds like your drive controller is going out

its the dvd driver that sometimes works and doesnt work sometimes. the cd drive works fine. its getting an I/O error also. within like the next few days it doesnt get fixed im getting a new one, ok well i hope someone can help me out.
