Writing on AccuCore using NEC 6500A +-RW

Hi,
I purchased a pack of 50 Sony 1x-16x DVD -R (4.7GB) from BestBuy. I tried to write on them using my NEC 6500A +- RW DVD drive, which has a max. write speed of 8x on Dell 9300 laptop.
I did update the firmware of the drive some time back and it is working fine as it writes on Sony 8x DVD-R. Is there something different with AccuCore that is not recognized by NEC drive?

Any suggestions as to how I could write on the media?

Probably just need another firmware update.
